If this is happening it usually is caused by heat buildup as the OS shuts the computer down at a certain temp. If that is the problem the you need more fans inside the computer to remove the heat. While you are install more fans clean the dustbunnies out of the computer. If this is a laptop then you need a coolpad for the laptop.
A conflict in the registry can also cause the computer to shut down. D/L a free registry cleaner and clean the computer's registry of all conflicts
ok, can you please explain the registry thing to me. I bought a brand new computer from cyberpower. it has the liquid cooling system, so.... it has to be something else.
A registry cleaner works by going through all of the systems registry keys and removes all of the unnecessary garbage that attaches via spyware, adware, etc. If you spend anytime on the internet you should not only have anti-virus, but a spyware blocker as well. Spyware will absolutely kill a systems performance.
Google registry cleaner and you have lots of options. You can also search this forum and find some excellent links to freeware that will help you tremendously.
I really doubt that its a spyware issue, but I did download the AVG spyware, as well as, AVG antivirus. I know I have downloaded bittorrent. do you think that could be an issue? Is this the only explaination for the computer for shutting off. thank you for your help.
cosme017,
There is a problem in that computer that is shutting it off. The OS is the only thing that shuts a computer off and that is because of Driver instability, Heat, or registry conflicts.
Does it do this only w/ Shrink and do you have any other DVD burning programs that you can try a DVD w/.
Maker sure that the ram is seated properly and all of the cables are seated correctly. To dispel the heat theory take the side off of the computer and try to use Shrink. If it cuts off then we probably need to look at the computer for a conflict.
When you ripped the DVD to HD what program did you use or are you trying to do one on the fly. Try ripping to HD w/ DVDFAB Decrypter (free) and then use VobBlanker(free and it corrects structure problems) and then try Shrink. It well might be one of the newer encryptions that is causing the problems but if ripped to HD properly and then use a structural correction tool you can copy just about any DVD out there
