@maddog21 - dude, I think your best bet is to use an emulator on your PC and forget about trying to burn FFVII to play in your PlayStation !!

Use ePSXe160 - you can even buy a device that allows you to plug your PSX controller into the PC USB.

Just do some more research dude and good luck !!

I joined this forum, just to respond to a few things in this thread. Lol. Alright, I'm not exactly what you call "suave" with all this tech stuff, but here goes. First, there's no such thing as a "DVD-rewritable". A DVD burner is capable of burning both DVD-Rs, and DVD-RWs. Also, to the one who said RW's won't work for Ps2 games; wrong. They work, although not as well as DVD-Rs. Also, the manufacturers firmware really has nothing to do with the burner. For instance, if your burner can't burn dual-layer DVDs (Ones larger than 4.8), a simple firmware download won't do the trick. Either your burner can do it, or can't. The only thing firmware will do, is enhance buffer readings, et cetera. FF7: Dirge of Cerebus, cannot be broken up enough to fit on a CD-R. First, you'd have to look into the sectors in the raw data (which is hard to do, if you've had no prior experiance), and trimming, compacting, or shrinking an ISO that's already over 2 gigs; won't happen. I'm not sure if everything in here has been addressed, but this is my best. Maddog, I'd suggest using Nero to burn ANY ISO files, although like I said, DoC won't fit onto a CD-R. And Geo, (someone prove me wrong, but) I don't think it's possible to put two or more "ISOs" on a single DVD. Each ISO has it's own formatting syntax and algorithyms, and would potentially screw up. And actually, about the emulator. On newer machines, configuring espxe to work is rather hard. Some games require intricate modification, and me being a computer networking and security forensics specialist, I even felt the cumbersome frustraition of doing this. I've also heard, there is a NICE little proggy out there, I have yet to find. It's a boot DVD, that boots with swap magic. Not only will it play PSone games, but it actually patches PSone media to be able to work on a DVD-R. Does anyone know what I'm talkin' about? Please, someone get back to me on that. Hope I've cleared things up. Later.

Well, apologies. Alright. If you want to play a burned copy of FF7 for PSOne, on your PS2, you can do one thing. Go get the Breaker Pro disc. It does the same thing as Swap Magic, but for PSOne games instead. I also read on here, something about swapping the burned disc with a "real, un-burned" PS2 disc at the browser menu. Honestly, I haven't tried the second one. I don't know how much Breaker Pro costs, but it works.

Thank you all very much for your help. I think I've tried almost everything though and nothing seems to be working for me. Maybe I'm just an idiot and am doing it wrong. I don't know, but that you guys anyway.

HI,i will help you it's very easy, to perform what you're trying to do. First You need a modded ps2 if not, you cannot play burned games. If you dont have it just buy a modchip or the swapmagic disk trick to play burned games in your ps2. If you have gameshark lite cd for psone, you can use it with the slide card of the swap magic to boot psx games if not, buy the brealer pro along with the swap magic. Second if you have an iso file for ff7, they must 3 iso files, because final fantasy 7 psx version is 3 cds, if you have one iso extract it and check what comes along. If you have those isos(3) just select them with nero(burn image) and it will automatically burn your game. Once is all thise done, you can play it in your ps2.Third if any of these doesnt't work there is a good almost perfect emulator for PC, called "pSX" current version is 1.9 it plays all i have in psx perfect, and its very simple to use. And four, If want to play it in a console you can play it in xbox, but thise is hell complicated if you dont'know what you're doing, you can search in these forums all you need to know about xbox emulator for psx. I hope you can make this to work, if you need anymore help dont hesitate and post again. Thank you and have a nice day!

PS sry for any error writing, im kinda in a hurry

if your going to play FF7 why not just play the pc version? i was hooked on the game on the ps1 but the disks are slightly damaged so it hangs alot. so instead i just got the pc version which works 100x better.

i do relise this is in the wrong section so i will make a new thread in the pc section stating were to get ff7 from and how to install. (if i can remember)

EDIT here is the link for my thread ff7 pc version
