This is a news thread where anyone can post anything about the wii that we might notknow for the next 43 days.
41 Days remaining.
Dolby Labratories have announced that they will give support on the new console's sound system using the dolby pro logic II sound system which is not as good as the Dolby Digital but will still be a very good sound system and being even better then dolby digital if you are using normal speakers since it seperates the Stereo Encoding into 5 Normal bass signals and one Heavy Bass signal which means that using a home theatre via your amp not the wii as it does not support optical you will still get a much better sorround quality to a 5.1 the with normal stereo since its using Dolby Pro logic II.
UbiSoft announces it will throw another 4 tittles at the wii this makes the french company more supportive for the wii then any other company.
Toy 'R' Us has confirmed pre oredering.
This way we will be all up to date on the wii news this will be alot better if everyone posts their latest knowledge on the Wii because I might have missed out on some things.

Amazon sells out on its 2nd run at pre orders once again.
Wii Point cards avalible for pre-order at walmart as of today.
Nintendo has announced there could be a world wide shortage of Wii's even though they have the biggest amount of consoles on day one.
Wii kiosks avalible a Japan now with the nunchuck and wii-motre under a lyaer of glass whihc you put your hands into and play.

cant wait i got my x360 taken away due to my grades ( its really cause i do to much drugs shhhhhhhhh) but yea i got some deals so im making $400 on tuesday so i am going to buy a wii and keep my 360 for halo3

Micro Machines Series might be comming to the wii due to the Wii's new controler which has appealeed the producers of micro machines
Wii will contain a Phone and adress book pre-built into the console.
Final Confirmation: Wii Will have SINGLE Console Codes which means that if you have your friends stored into your adress book and they have a Wii you can simply connect to them by selecting them in your book and then run a game without all the hassle of setting up the ip's etc.

im in australia actually is should say 40 since it releases 8th decmber in the uk whihc is the last place this way its fair saying 40 because if its not released n peopel wanna look they can still get their pre relese info.

Anyways maybe you should say the release date for every country because the wii is released november 19th from were I live.

you see that verticle stand in the picture? will wii come with it, will it be sold seperatly, or will it not be sold at all?

The stand comes with it.
The whole box includes one wii (with stand), wii-mote, nunchuk, sensor bar (with stand), av cables, ac adaptor, a startup disk, and Wii sports.

Codemasters release first pictures of micro machines which could mean that it wont be long till they confirm it.
Nintendo says that Wii sport will be what Super mario 64 was which means one of the greatest video games ever.
Nintendo hints that a superior version of the wii is starting development.
I fixed the date error for the continents I thinbk peopel most from will read this.
By the way the best piece of news I have heard is the way the connection will run just through the adress book how mad no Ip hassle

UK's EDGE magazine has lifted the curtain on Nintendo's plans to release a premium Wii with DVD movie playback.In PAL and Japan regions no news on the USA this rumour broke out overnight so there is no more news on it and it has not been announced but looks as if its a 50/50 and boy there is alot of news about this every site has it.

Hey dazila,
Great thread, I love your up-to-date Wii info!
I would like to point something out though; Dolby Pro Logic II is not equivalent to Dolby Digital. Dolby Pro Logic is a system of guesswork, where using two cables, a stereo mathematically "Guesses" what direction each sound is coming from. If you walk into any electronics store, they will be able to explain it to you well. Dolby Pro Logic II was the standard for the eighties, and it's barely anything more than glorified Hi-Fi stereo.
Don't get me wrong, regular stereo is fine. But you really can tell the difference between watching a film in Dolby Pro Logic II versus Dolby Digital, a lot of the sounds come from weird directions, and it can really detract from the experience, compared to true Digital Surround.
But like I said, great job on this thread; you are FULL of great interesting info, my boss was actually AT that AARP convention.

*Sites are warning that buying a Wii could be gameble between a console as succesfull as the PS2 or a another repeated version of what happend to the phillips Produced 3DO in 1993
*Wii will make double the revenue that the PS3 will on launch day .

I thought DOLBY PRO LOGIC I and DOLBY SORROUND are from the 80's.
and DOLBY DIGITAL is from 1996 and DOLBY PRO LOGIC II I thought it was from the 90's to make sound better then Stereo for people without Sorround theatres
And for the DVD thing I thing i think it has been announced now for only japan and will come at mid 2007 as an upgraded verison for the wii

More great facts.
There's a lot more details coming through the woodwork on this thing, I'm really pleased to see how much is finally coming out, the system seemed almost completely shrowded in mystery just a few months ago.
As for the 3D0 thing, I don't *personally* think that the analysts are right, Nintendo makes a profit just by selling you the system, of course they'll keep making it, as long as people keep buying it. And if they can get people to latch on to the online ditribution system, they'll keep making even more money for almost nothing.

Ubi soft and atari are over pricing their games some xbox 360 gamnes are 99.95 au and they are on HD-DVD this is a plain dvd and yet 110.95au i think they are trying to get everytnhing out of it

North America-16 Days (Dam its getting close not that long ago it was 6months)
