I started the thread merely to give a heads up to other people on what to expect about the movie. Since I did get it a lil early.

I for one do not have internet access at home (a rural disadvantage) so I'd like to know what programs and versions work for which movies. It helps me out alot. I just wanted to inform other readers that have not gotten the movie to know what to expect.

@ binkie

Of course you were right, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. One of the better ones lately, altho Tom Cruise's star seems to have gone supernova and is now fading! It was even worthy of the $2 DL disc, which played flawlessy without a noticeable layer break. LOL Thanks to ImgBurn.

Hi movies27
Hmmm should I spoil it for those who haven't seen it....

I thought AH started out kinda bad but picked up thru the whole movie - kinda of disturbing movie actually when you think about why what happened - happened.

If you liked the other MI's I think you'll like this one too - tons of action.

Sorry if I came off like a moron, but I get to deal daily with people of differing opinions considering I run a message board myself at [removed]. Shameless plugs aside, I don't usually break the peace, but try to maintain it. Good luck sometimes.

ok maybe i just didn't look at enough threads to find my answer and i will continue searching after i post this. But i am having issues with MI3. I ripped it with dvdfab and then burnt it to a dual layer with shrink (Nero as the burning engine) all the previews play just fine but when you get to the main movie it stops and it won't play it. --i've used dell media player, power dvd, and Media Player Classic and they all stop before the movie and won't let me play it.

Hi notyou
Which version of DVDFab decrypter did you use?

Have you tried playing back the ripped files from the pc?
How about playing the disc on a standalone DVD player

You can also post your last Nero log and we can take a peek. They are usually separated w/ something like this:
====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======

Just be sure to edit out the serial # - they begin w/ something like 1A, 1C or 5C.
You can find them here:
Nero 6 - program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory
Nero 7 - program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory

umm i have Nero 6 ultra and i don't have a clue how to get to the log you are talking about, (usually i just let it all go through dvdshrink and i don't have to even mess with logs or anything,) this is the first dvd i haven't been able to burn)

just passing thru...

..Binkie wants the LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

:)

3.0.2.0 is old now, the latest is 3.0.3.5, or 3.0.3.8 Beta (which i'm using now). You must always check for updates to ensure being able to cope with newer encryptions..

the MI3 part would be great but most burning woes can be sorted out from a burning log entry so any would do if you can't find the MI3 part

If it's the last dvd you burned then it's probably the last log.

You can also rerip it w/ one of the version of DVDFab creaky listed - then before you use Shrink - play the ripped files with one of the media players.
If all ok then burn.
But looking thru 1st - may have some tweaks for you.

Yep that's it.

So here are some suggestions for you.

Nero API version: 6.3.1.20
Update Nero to 6.6.0.18 - some fixes since the version you are using including dual layer burning.
Here are some links:
Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2 (recode & vision)
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Recorder: <HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GWA4164B>Version: D108
Here's a firmware update for your drive. Dell has it clssifies as 'urgent' - Firmware update improving writes/reads to certain marginal CD-R, DVD-R and DVD+R discs
Ritek dual layer I consider marginal so hopefully the media codes in this update will help these disc. Though the log show that the discs are recognized by the drive.
http://support.dell.com/support/download...2&fileid=164264
Better dual layer media would be Verbatim.

CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GWA4164B atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
Need to get the drive back in DMA mode. Here's a guide:http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038
Reason it took 1 hr 20 mins to burn.

Give those a go & let us know.

hey thanx a lot i'll give it a shot

one more question, the dvd i burned to was rw --if i try to burn once more on that disc over the copy that didn't work will the quality be decreased?

From the log the disc was only a +R so it's not rewritable.
For that you need +RW or -RW discs.
I'm not sure if dual layer comes in that format.

But when using +/- RW discs - do a full erase then burn.
Quality doesn't decrease too much - just from my experience. But if poor quality media more than likely would.

Give the suggestions a go and keep us posted!
