Hi,
I just upgraded my computer and re downloaded DVD Shrink. Everytime I go to back up a Region 4 DVD I get this error message: "CDvdCSS::Read Failed! The reason is: Copy Protection Error - The read failed because the sector is encrypted." Does anyone know why am I getting this now when prior to my upgrade I was able to back up any region with no problems whatso ever and what the solution is? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys & girls,
Ok I tried using DVD Decrypter and it worked on a region 4 DVD that was less than 4.7. BUT, what is frustrating is that prior to me upgrading (I had a Toshiba Satelite Pro note book) to a P4 computer, I was able to back up region 4 DVD's with no errors, no warnings or anything using DVD Shrink. I even tried to do a region 4 DVD which I had already done using DVD Shrink with my lap top last week, where there was no problems, and I did it again with my new computer and I got the error message as per my original post!! Am I missing something on my new PC that my note book had? I would rather use DVD Shrink than DVD Decrypter on DVD's that need compressing. Thanks!

Hi,
I was using the DVD Drive from the lap top and also the DVD Burner, Sony DRU 510A. The DVD Rom I have now on the new PC is the new Liteon but when I also run the Region 4 DVD via the burner and try to use DVD Shrink same error message, when before I didn't get it. Eeerrgghh!

Hi gang,
I've figured the problem out!! When I had my lap top I was backing up DVD's using the DVD Rom in there for Region 4 and the Sony DVD Burner for Region 1. Because on my new PC both the DVD Rom was set (not locked, thank God) on Region 1 for play back and the burner as well, that is why DVD Shrink was giving me that error message as above. I put a Region 4 movie on the DVD Rom, chose Power DVD to play it back and advised me it is currently set to Region 1 would you like to change it, 4 changes remaining, which I did, opened up DVD Shrink.... and presto! Back up working fine! Maybe this will benefit other newbies in the future. But thanks to all who contributed to my needs, much appreciated!
