I have (but never installed after reading about problems) Nero 7 Ultra, which I understand can be upgraded to "Enhanced" for no extra charge.
I'm planning to buy a new computer in a month or so. I expect it will run XP (Home or Media Center) but that I'll receive a coupon for an upgrade to Vista (if and whn it comes out and is debugged). Should I install Nero 7 Enhanced or stick with DVD Decrypter? I recall reading that later versions of Nero would not launch from a command in DVD Shrink.
If I stick with Decrypter, will Nero live on the same computer without conflict?
What do Vista beta testers think of the combination? (And if the eventual upgrade will screw anything up.)
Hmmmm... looks like a few questions here, so I'll make it simple. DVD Shrink, Nero and DVD Decrypter is good to their own, people (including myself) use it for a reason. No they don't conflict at all, I've been using them for ages and never had any issues from them. However, unless you've got Roxio or InCD on your system, then it's likely you're going to have some real issue with Nero there.
To make a long story short, I'll try to simplify below (mostly what I used them for):
* DVD Shrink to transcode any movies that doesn't required a lot of compressions
* DVD Shrink to rip (few movies) + transcoding at the same time
* DVD Decrypter to rip in combo with RipIt4Me (or rip and burn on its lonesome)
* DVD Decrypter to rip and burn PS2 games
* Nero Burning Rom to burn
* Nero Recode to transcode
NOTE: If you like DVD Decrypter as your burning engine, why not try out ImgBurn? ImgBurn is from the same guy LUK, the author who created DVD Decrypter.
As for Vista, I have no comment simply because I'm good with WIN XP Pro SP2.

Thank you, these answers relieve a lot of my concerns. I bought Nero instead of Roxio becuase it seems to be more of a favorite. When the time comes I'll do a custom install that excludes InCD. As I said, I'm planning to set up a new computer (so as not to screw with my SP1-only (so far--it it works, don't mess with it) machine. with the eventual intention of converting the new one to Vista, which is going to be needed for new software that won't run on XP. But I'll start with XP if I can.
I am deeply suspcions of Microsoft's intentions toward people who copy audio and video. The launched ZUNE today, which achieve stheir wet dream of a licensed world, where you only rent the songs you download from their proprietary service. They've been pushing software subscriptions for years and are behind the serial management plan that tags video which (it is rumored) passes through Vista so any other Vista computer won't play it. I want to go to the brink if Vista, and not use it until forced by programs whose features require its installation.
I've got Imgburn on my compute but don't see much difference betwen it and DVD Decrypter.
