Shrink Program Error

Trying to back up any movie lately using DVDFab (works perfectly) and DVD Shrink. Once I start to "Back Up" the DVD files in shrink, I will get through to aproximately 70% and I get this error:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Programming error - exception occurred
Tried to find a log of the error, but no luck...
And as far as I know this is the latest verison of Shrink...and I have had this problem with Shrink for a few months, causing me to use DVD Xcopy...would rather use Shrink...HELP Please...
Also tried to use Nero's Recoder and I have an error with that as well...
I know I have an update for my firmware for my burner, but when I try to update that, it locks my pc up totally...

DVD Fab is a good program. Sometimes you will need to run the output from it through Vob Blanker before you use Shrink.
Find it here: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
This cleans up some of the (junk) stuff left there by new encryptions. Open Blanker. Select the DVD Fab output files. Select a new output destination. And 'Process All'. Really easy.
Then run your Shrink on this new output from Vob Blanker. Forget X Copy. It's old and unsupported. These programs mentioned here are FREE.

yeah, fabdecrypter and VobBlanker ought to do the job. another alternative that is really simple to use is ripit4me (also freeware). wouldn't hurt to have both in your backup arsenal.

no guarantees. but fabdecrypter alone is insufficient to deal with many structural and other protection measures on some current and recent releases. either VobBlanker or fixvts (also included as part of ripit4me) can resolve those issues, and then shrink will be able to process the files successfully. try those methods and if they don't work let us know the details of precisely what happened.

i use DVD Shrink and Nero but it won't let me encode the disc to the hard drive, but only on certain dvd's like Little Man , Click and The Break Up can u tell what I should try

try the methods listed in my signature: ripit4me and/or dvdfabdecrypter/vobblanker/shrink. see the guides listed or look for more guide info at the guide tab at the top of the page. either of these freeware approaches will successfully backup any current release dvd. be sure to use higher quality media too.

Decrypter
Shrink
ImgBurn
If Shrink runs into a problem, then:
DVD Fab decrypter
VOB Blanker
Shrink
ImgBurn
All free. Simple to use. Works GREAT. RipIt4Me bundles some of these with FixVTS to accomplish much the same thing. It's free, too. Never had a failure using these. Once you get to Shrink and it processes the files to an ISO, you just know it's going to be fine. Step by step and you won't make a coaster.

I've got it working perfectly using DVDFab, VobBlanker, Shrink and then Nero to burn. Thanks everyone for your help...I am a happy man with a happy woman now!!!!

Scratch that...little premature on the celebration...it owrked for one disc..Monster House, next attempt was The Break Up, and I received the same program error. I tried another, Lord Of War and got a new error, The log is below...

Again, I want to keep mentioning this, I cannot update my fimrware for the drive as it will completely lock up my machine, I even reformattwed my hard drive, thinking that this may help...HA! ANyhoo...I am trying multiple ways to do it, between using Nero Recode and DVD Shrink...reversing the order of programs used...I got Lord of War to work, I took th eoutput files from Shrink and burned them using Nero Vision. This was never a problem until this month...I could get away with using DVD Dercrypter then DVD Shrink which auto burned with Nero...now I am ranting like a mad man!
So my guess is that each movie is going to give me different results, depending on the type of protection used...
