I have a 0059DJ. Use OPA 2.3 Stealth Revision 2 and get a SIL3112 card to put the hitachi in modeB with Slax. Follow this guide.

Why do I need to buy a Samsung drive to read my game DVDs and a pioneer 111d to burn my game DVDs? Can't one DVD burner read and write the iso file?

No, because the firmware to dump the 360 is for the Samsung PC drive and not the Pioneer DVD Burner.

Ok so I do need the Samsung drive with updated firmwere to read my game, but I can use my Sony DVD burner, it does not have to be the pioneer DVD burner. Correct?

It doesn't have to be the pioneer burner but that's the easiest burner to use since it automatically booktypes for you. I use a Sony DRU-810a Writer.

Open DVD Decrypter and select BENQ as your burner. Then set DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM. Or you can use DVDinfoPro.

What is Kreon firmware version .81 used for? The OPA firmware is used for the 360 DVD drive firmware update. I don't see where this firmware is used.

6. Now connect the provided power cord from the xeno or xecuter kit in the back of the 360 drive and the one side of the power kit. Make sure to properly install the plug, if not electrical shock or fire damage is eminent. Now connect the sata cord to one of the ports on the sata card and the other end to the 360 drive.
is the xecuter used only for the firmware update on the 360? Do I leave the 2 chips in after the update firmware is completed?

I was thinking of buying "60 USB with Connectivity Kit v2". Is this all thr hardware I need to buy? What I mean is I will not have to buy a mod chip like "NME-360 v1.2" to play my backup?
Just by updating my DVD firmware on my 360 I can play my backups?

With Xbox Backup Creator v2.3 you don't need to extract SS.BIN and merge the iso with ss.bin files?

I have read that a Samsung SH-D162c is necessary to put your 360 games in and use imgburn 2 to dump your 360 games...Do I need one of these or can I just pop the game in my Macbook Pro and use Imgburn in Bootcamp? Is the reason this drive was suggested the Kreon firmware? Can I download it?

Hi,
You listed 2 dvd drives in your tutorial. Is that really necessary? I understand the Samsung drive you listed has the Kreon firmware allowing you to dump your game to it, but why can't you just burn your game with it as well??? I know you can hot swap and burn a game with one burner. Is there a big advantage in doing it the way your tut says with 2 DVD drives?
I have a Macbook Pro and I have a Dell down the street at my friend's house. I would like to use the Macbook and use Windows via bootcamp. However, I will use the Dell if that is not possible.
P.S. do I have to actually install any of those 2 drives inside the PC, if that's the best way to do it, or can I just hook them up externally?

The Samsung DVD drive is a DVD-ROM drive. it is only used to read the game. You can't burn with this Samsung drive. You can use any other DVD burner as long it is set to booktype DVD-ROM.

Not if you use a SIL3112a chipset SATA card.

When I use latest version of schtrom, I get "Disc is unreadable" error when I put in 360. When I use xboxbackup, it works fine. Both create 7.05gb file. Both images seem identical and they are both booktyped to dvd-rom. Also, both were burned at slow speeds. Can anyone explain this?
