I checked my device manager and it is where it is to be at but it used to take me an hour to encode and burn a dvd but now it took me from 9pm to 12 pm the next day to encode and burn??? encode took a long time burning 1/2 hour??? please help

A half hour encode isn't a bad time...especially if using high levels of compression. Did you check both primary and secondary channels in Device Manager?

Here is a DMA guide...make sure you are looking at current transfer mode and not just "transfer mode".
