I have DVD Shrink but it has been running really really slow, it takes about a whole day to encode and about a half hour to burn a dvd.
I erase the stuff in device manager and so on
someone told me that i was not having a problem with DVD Shrink and that it was my computer. I have run scan and check and everything??? can anyone help me out to try and figure out whats going on!!!
Thanks
Noah

Have you tried a free Registry Cleaner and cleaned the crap out of the registry? as that can cause problems similar to yours?
Are all of the cables seated properly?
Is the ram seated properly?
Have you run a Memtest to see if there is a problem w/ the memory?
What are the system specs of your computer?

is this the only disc that it's happened on, or has it been occurring on several dvds? it may also possible be your dvd-rom drive itself...how many miles have you put on it. i noticed my dvd-rom isn't as fast sometimes as it used to be, so then i put it in the separate DVD-R drive to read, and it reads faster....something to try....good luck

Sorry but I just got back in town. This thread was taken to PM as that is how NRTH16 wants to do it. Just thought your guys wanted to know this. He just has not gotten back to me to tell me if the above worked. If he does then I'll post it.
ralski,
New computers really do have crap on them BUT did you do an OS upgrade w/in the last week? Those are not the only causes as faulty components do come into play. If you upgraded then uninstall the OS upgrades and try Shrink again. You might as well d/l a free registry cleaner as that will not hurt also.

ralski,
The problem that you are having is is probably caused by your computer and not Shrink. You might have a bad IDE Cable or problems w/ the MOBO or RAM modules might be going bad. Can you post a log of the last burn you did so we can look at it?

If you have Nero 6
Go to Start>My Computer then C:/ProgramFiles/Ahead/Nero/NeroHistory.log
If you have Nero 7 then
C:\ProgramFiles\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory.log
Imgburn:
Start>My Computer> Doc and settings>Application Data>Imgburn> look for the Text File

Hello.
You need to edit your post to delete the Nero serial number beginning 1C.... To enter edit mode, click the paper/pencil icon in the upper right of your post. It appears in each section of the log file you posted. You need to do this quickly so your Nero serial number isn't pirated.

Set the target size to Custom 4350 as you are burniong to close to the outer rim
2. Slow the burn down to 8X as 16 is really too fast

Can you free up some ram by cutting off some of the other processes that are running in the background. You really are at the bare minimum

1. Shrink> Edit> preferences and there you will see Set Target size
2. Cut off the un-needed processes. Turn off the cable modem,Turn off the firewall, Turn off the Anti-virus. You might also run the free Registry cleaner again.
3. Yes that is one way or you need to add more Ram

does any one know of any other FREE dvd shrinking program out there of close to same quality as DVD Shrink or is DVD Shrink well worth all this effort to try and fix this problem?

If you have Nero, you have Nero Recode. It's by the same author as DVD Shrink. There's also ShrinkTo5 which I've never tried:
http://www.shrinkto5.com/
Are you processing directly from the DVD disk in your burner or are you ripping the disk first to your HDD and then processing the ripped files?

@ralski
Go back to this post of yours and edit out your Nero serial number. It begins 1C... and appears in several places that I'll list below. To enter edit mode, click the paper/pencil icon in the upper right of your post. The link to your post is:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/425493#2590166
The serial number appears near the beginning of your post and then again immediately after this header, ====== *** NeroAPI, History File *** ====== , a ways down your log post.
How long does it take to rip a DVD to your HDD?
How old is your system? Have you tried Nero Recode yet?
