Right now it has to be even obvious to Sony fanboys that the 360 is the much better system right now. It is not even close. The 360 is head and shoulders above the PS3.

Now having said all that, this question has to be asked 2 or 3 years down the line. Not now. Then is when we will start to crown the king.

well its not that obvious considering i have a ps3 and i don't recently recall drooling over a 360. i am curious why you think the 360 is head and shoulders over the ps3 and a much better system...

I kinda think its fuunny, that someone asks this in the ps3 forum. Well, your not gonna get a straight answer Its obvious that if you post this here you will get Ps3, if you post it in Xbox 360 forum, you will get Xbox 360. I hate to tell you this,BUT you are going to do your own research and see whats better.

To name a few....

Price (if i want hd dvd i can buy it. They aren't forcing it down my throat). Xbox Live (don't care if you have to pay, it is still alot better than the sloppy navigation for the PS3). Gears of War (pure pwnage over anything out on the PS3 right now). Dead Rising. Saints Row(any fan of GTA should have this game). Rumble in my controller (I will take that over "last minute thing" tilt any day of the week). COD3 (PS3 version is chop chop city). Smackdown Vs. Raw. Comes with component cables. Doesn't downscale to 480p (ouch). And not to mention that most of the cross platform games between the PS3 and 360 rated better for the 360 in terms of not only gameplay but graphics as well.

per ign...
We've been hearing about the power of the "Cell Broadband Engine" for what seems like forever, and there's no denying that it has some horsepower. It's an absolute monster for processing data with approximately 40 times the juice of a PS2 CPU and a multi-core blueprint that allows for true parallel processing (with up to nine independent threads per Cell). NVIDIA's built-in G70-based RSX "Reality Synthesizer" has received nearly as much press -- boasting the ability to handle almost 75 billion shader operations per second with a clock speed of 550MHz. Add 256MB of XDR RAM and another 256MB of GDDR3 VRAM and you have quite the collective muscle.

But what does all that technical jargon mean for you, the every day consumer? Unless you're the type of person that sits around imagining hypothetical scenarios about how developers can squeeze every last bit of power from their favorite console, it doesn't mean much. Microsoft's Xbox 360 is totally comparable to the PS3 in terms of its specifications, and some developers swear that the 360 even has an edge in certain categories.

Now again, after saying all this, maybe in 3-4 years we can answer this posters question a diffrent way but for right now, it just doesn't make any sense to buy a PS3 over a 360.

Yeah this qiestion cant really be answered becuase the PS3 came after the Xbox 360,if both consoles came on the same day we would see who is better.Yet by the technology in both consoles, the PS3 is better, but it all depends on the consumer.

Based on what nothing your just running your mouth. Also it would help if your system has been out for a year.Microsoft goal was to sale 10 million console dont look like they going to meet that goal because they at 7.5 million now.By next summer Sony will have caught Microsoft so if you know numbers 7.5 in one year is really not a lead at all.

You are going on what SONY told us the specs of the PS3 were. Sony lied about them. They are over inflated. Listen to the developers who are working on the system and then look at the grapics of the games.
Most developers will tell you horsepower for horsepower they are the same.
So lets get this straight. PS3 is not more powerful than 360. Just cos Sony told you dosent make it true.
The proof is in the tasting.

the title of that link i posted is "Zero tolerance for fanboy flame starters!", and that's exactly what it means. The meaning behind that if no-one understands it is that people get banned and these pointless 'versus' threads keep being shutdown. Easy as pie.

Great point gracie. Not only is the hardware pretty much identical interms of what they can output, developers are saying it is a nightmare to program for, so i am sure that will hold them back for a few years.

Right now, I'd get the 360 due to games available, their online service, and the fact that I can actually find one in stores. Not to mention the fact that I love the ability to stream music from my PC. The only thing that I really can't stand about the 360 is that it won't play protected (itunes) music so I have to burn to disk and rip and I don't see this changing since MS is fighting iPod right now, but I'm not sure if PS3 will play protected music either. I've always like the PS and PS2, but I can't see buying a PS3 until the price comes down or they get a few more exclusive games, right now I'd rather have the 360 and/or the Wii, but like everyone else has already stated, that may change in a year or 2.

Developers has argue about designing games for systems for ages thats old news but if it was so much of a problem does it stop them from making games....No, non-issue.The games on PS3 system is first gen,Look at 360 launch titles there just as laughable. No system going to launch with High end games if this is what your looking for then you should not be buying a 360 or PS3.I look at some of these post in these forums and people get mad because a company lied.Fact on the matter is all Companys lied to get you into buying there items. It called marketing people its up to you to find the truth & the BS.If you fall prey to the Hype its not there fault its yours for not putting in the time to do the research.

there are side by side shots on there everyone take a look they look (Equal) to me and my point is this if a launchin ps3 is equal to a 360(that had a year advantage) what does that mean hmmm . I would think that is bad news for the 360 if a launchin console is up to par with a console that has been out with a head start right or am I wrong should they be worried ?

Why would you want to lost the rumble feature? That is one on the major points against the PS3. When I am playing a fps, rumble is essential to the gameplay experience
