I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. I backed up some files using DVD Fab. All the files are on my harddrive in their original form and size. When I run DVD Shrink to back up and compress the files I run into a poblem. At the end of the analysis stage I encounter this message:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Programming error-exception occured
The paramter is incorrect.

Can anyone offer a suggestion? I have AnyDVD running in the background as well. It's strange becuause I never had these problems before and they have just started. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW it doesn't matter what movie I try I recieve the same error, and Nero Recode seems to be expereincing similar problems.

You can try running the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker and try to correct the structure of the movie on your HDD or do the same with FixTVS before importing your title into DVD Shrink. In the future you need to disable AnyDVD when ripping with DVDFab and it is not needed for files you have successfully ripped to your HDD and are processing with DVD Shrink.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just tried that and ran the files through VobBlanker as you suggested. Then I ran the files through DVD Shrink, they anaylis well enough and I can see the structure of the movie through the small preview window but when the program gets to the encoding stage it gives me an error message. I'm not sure if the problem is becuase the files are no longer stored on dvd but on my actual drive? I can view them off my drive and play the movie off my drive, I just can't shrink it on to a dvd. I'm sure if I had the higher dual layered dvds I would be able to burn these files onto one of those disks but for whatever reason I just can't compress these files with shrink. Any other suggestions or programs I can use? Or should I just delete all the files on my hard drive and start from scratch?

What error message are you gettin now, word for word?

The preferred method is the way you are doing it...rip DVD to HDD, encode from HDD and then burn from HDD.

Dual layer discs won't help you with this problem...don't waste your money.

Try running the same file through FixVTS instead of VobBlanker and then input your new file into DVD Shrink. If you still get no joy you may need to start from scratch...make sure AnyDVD is disabled, DVDFab is current and rerip. Or you could try Ripit4Me, but you will still have to start from scratch.

Ok so here is the update
I backed up Superman Returns on to my computer using DVD Fab. All the files work since I can play them from my hard drive. I then ran VobBlanker on it and encountered an error message through shrink. I have no used the DVD Fixit as you recomended. It does the analysis again with shrink but then right when I get to the encoding phase I get the following message:
Programming error-exception occured
cannont create a file when that file already exists

This message happens with all the films backed up on my hard drive.

You're doing something wrong, either VobBlanker or FixVTS should have fixed the problem easily, if you did it right.

SUPERMAN RETURNS (US, Region 1) has no special protections whatsoever, though there may be a few (some discs) with some corrupted VTS, PGC or Cells out there. Therefore, either FixVTS or VobBlanker can process and filter out tiny left over junks.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

I moved out of state and left my PC back at home. Last movie i purchased and backed up was Inside Man when it was released a while back. For Christmas, I wish I may have my PC. Now, I don't buy DVD's since I can't back them up. Happy Holidays to all of you.

AnyDVD and CloneDVD for life.

I think the problem lies with DVDFab...I had similar problems but with using Nero...either update to the DVDFab beta version and try again or switch to RI4M as suggested which I did.

My 20ps worth...
