you can downgrade it, but you would just have to use a different downgrader-one thats not geared for TA-082 motherboards..BTW what firmware is your daughter's psp currently? I dont think you mentioned that in your previous post..

I would use the one found HERE -scroll down to "-2.71 PSP" (just below the one for TA82-TA86) and click show...The files you need will be there, along with a guide to walk you through it...

WHOA!!! things have seriously changed since i came through here the last time.
Ok, i have a TA-082. I successfully downgraded to 1.5 and then upgraded to 3.02A and the 3.02B. This was close to 6 months or more ago. And, forgive my ignorance, but I haven't really been coming on much because of college and work and stuff. Anyway i decided to come online and check out what's new on the PSP world. I downloaded Pga tour 08 and a few other games and found that none of them work on my psp.
I'm guessing I have to upgrade to a higher version???
I haven't really been able to read up coz there's over 6 months of developments to read through. It qould be GREAT if someone could tell me or just point me to the proper links through which i can upgrade my 3.02b to a higher firmware...
i dont have any of my old files coz after upgrading i cleard my MS.
Touran?? anyone?? help?? :)

Yeah, it sounds like you need to upgrade to a higher firmware for that game...You can get the firmware updates from psp-hacks.com in the downloads section, or pspupdates.qj.net

The most recent custom firmwares people are using these days are either 3.40OE-A, or 3.52M33-4

SUPER easy. worked like a charm. now i can play. Hey, another clarification. what exactly are psx's. I mean, i know they're like a form of playing ps1 or ps2 games on the psp. but how do i actually play them on my psp?

Psx's are iso images of Playstation 1 games that you can play on the PSP-I believe it is similar to playing PSP iso's-You would need to put the image in either the GAME folder or the GAME150 folder depending on what kernel you have your psp set to in the recovery console...I haven't really got into PS1 games just yet, I am more into the customizing of themes and other tweaks for the psp...Thats another thing I need to add to my list of things to do...I would recommend searching the forums here and on psp-hacks.com for more detailed info on the how-to...Sorry I couldn't be of more help..

hey Deez, i had a question or two i was hoping you could help me out with. im in the process of buying a psp, and i was recently looking at the new psp slim, which i think has a FW of 3.6. im also interested in DLing games. i understand that there is no downgrader for 3.6 now, or probably any time soon. so the main question is: should i go with a good old 1.5 FW PSP from ebay or wherever? or get the new psp slim and wait for someone to crack it?

also, this may be a stupid question: i was looking on ebay at fw 1.5 psp's and i came across a seller stating: "NOTE: This firmware cannot be upgraded beyond 3.5, so please be aware of that when considering purchasing this item!" does he mean that the fw 1.5 psp has an upgrade limit? or simply that there isnt anything higher as of yet?

thanks.

Yeah, I would go with a 1.5 or equivalent from ebay if you can get one reasonably priced-who knows when there will be a downgrader or any type of crack for the new slims.....It has been confirmed that the pandora battery wont downgrade the 3.60 firmware-so you would be stuck for some time.

As far as the sellers disclaimer of not being able to upgrade beyond 3.50-that only means you would not be able to update to official sony firmware greater than 3.50-and its my understanding that its actually nothing higher than 3.30 if you were to downgrade a 3.50 using the Lumines/3.50 downgrader combo to get the PSP to 1.50-Which is what I am guessing the seller did to get the PSP to 1.50 firmware to make it more appealing...Besides, you cant play downloaded games on official firmware anyway, so no big loss-Just install a custom firmware on the 1.50 PSP like 3.40OE , LE, or 3.52M33 and you can update when new custom firmwares are available...That rule doesn't apply to custom firmwares..So go for it!

oh ok. im guessing by the time slim is available and has a fw of 3.6, many of the games that come out require a fw of 3.6 as will. would 3.40OE , LE, or 3.52M33 be able to play those games with a downgraded 1.5 fw?

Don't worry, as soon as they release firmware 3.60 for non-PSP Slims, someone whether it be M33 or Wildcard will create custom firmware 3.60.

My PSP Firmware History: 2.60 had to return the PSP because it had a dead pixel > new PSP had firmware 2.71 > 1.5 > 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33 > 3.71 M33 with 1.50 kernel

so what is the real difference between 3.40OE , LE, and 3.52M33? i know these are all custom firmware of one kind or another. but are they capable of playing the same games? and do they run the same type of game files? or are they different formats, in which case i would need to look for particular formats as i download? are there any advantages running one over the other?
and finally, are these firmwares permenant where i would have to downgrade to 1.5 again if i were to upgrade to say 3.6 in the future? or is the fw run off of the memory stick as sort of a temperary upgrade when the psp is turned on?

Look on the UMD or the Spine of the Lumies case for the UMD# the versions you want are EU (ULES00043) or US (ULUS10002).

Aside from the version number, there arent really any differences between the assorted flavors of custom firmware-They all play the same games...If you have a game that requires a firmware version higher than 3.40, then you should update to 3.52M33-But there aren't really that many games right now that require a version higher than 3.40...So its up to you which one to choose from-The 3.52M33 has a hacked sony iso loader which you activate in recovery mode that allows you to play about 98% of the games out there from the memory stick and without the need for a UMD in the drive...The 3.40OE is a more stable firmware in my opinion..But like i said, its up to you..You can install the 3.40OE, then if you decide you dont like it, then just upgrade to 3.52M33 directly (make sure you get the first release of 3.52M33, dont try to update from 3.40OE to 3.52M33#4) But if you try the M33 and decide you liked the 3.40OE better, then you will have to get the 1.50 recovery winstaller to revert back to 1.50fw and then reflash 3.40OE...And you can just install future custom firmware versions over previous ones, no need to downgrade to 1.50 again..The firmware runs from your psp's internal memory (flash) not the memory stick....

Hi...Everyone..I'm new to modding and I have been reading..youtubing...about downgrading/upgrading and have come to the conclusion that I'm stuck. Where exactly? I have two PSP's one is version 3.01 and the other is 2.81 both have the TA 082 MOBO. I tried using the tutorial mentioned on earlier pages..and I get stuck on the RAND Part.(the Rand images are there (e.g. one has many pixels. the other says corrupted). Both PSP don't do anything. I do exactly what the tutorial says. 1. reformat (MS) 2. Default settings 3. Run the installer to the PSP. 3. rename and then copy the 1.5 eboot file.

@FreeFall1

You have a 3.01 and a 2.81 PSP the 2.71 Downgrader will not work for you.

You have 3 options.

1) Upgrade to 3.03 and use the GTA Liberty City Stories downgrader. Which you will need an unpatched version of GTA Liberty City Stories.

2) upgrade to 3.50 and use the Lumines downgrader. Which you will need an unpatched version of Lumines.

Here are GUIDES for those 2 downgraders. Look under the section of -2.81 - 3.03 Any Motherboard if your going to use the GTA downgrader or look under the section of -3.10 - 3.50 Any Motherboard if your going to use the Lumines downgrader.

3) Use a Pandora Battery to downgrade the PSP's to 1.50. In order to do this method you will need to know someone with a PSP that has 1.50 or custom firmware installed already.

Here is a GUIDE on how to create the Pandora Battery.

If you choose number 3 you will need a PSP that has 1.50 or custom firmware already installed on the PSP. Your 3.01 and 2.81 PSP will not be able to create the Pandora Battery because you have official firmware on them.
