Before i go to school tomorrow. Can someone tell me what i need to do i have the keyboard the mouse everything disc the 2 files. I don't know maybe there might be an extra file that would help the installation

(1) YOU NEED TO CHILL OUT NOW.
(2) THE GUIDE IS WELL DESIGNED (IT'S ONE OF THE BEST GUIDE) WITH GOOD EXPLANATION.
(3) HE'S MORE SMARTER THAN YOU OR ANY IDIOTS.
(4) IF YOU HAD BUNCH OF ERRORS THEN OBVIOUSLY YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG.
(5) THE GUIDE IS NOT "F.UCKED", IT'S "IDIOTS" THAT GOT F.UCKED/SCREWED

Hey no one ever answered my question so I'll ask again: does installing Yellow Dog Linux disable the Wifi feature on the PS3? Can anyone with YDL installed on their PS3 confirm this?

Ok... rnguyen.
To answer your question, NO! it does NOT disable the actual wireless capabilities of the PS3. The YDL 5.0 doesn't support the wireless capabilities due to a lack of drivers. Eventually this will be fixed, or there may be a way to write your own drivers (a friend and I have been up all night trying to figure out a way around.) If you want internet capabilities, plug your ethernet cord into the back of the ps3 and Presto! Internet! There are, however, problems with this build as you must search for video codecs to play any videos (that is with the standard player,) the fact that the RAM (which is 512mb) runs at a lowly roughly 196(-ish)mb because it is split in to 2 (so 2x256) and this build of YDL doesn't yet run the two physical RAM chips as one.
Also, if you really sit down to think about it, this console isn't even 3 months old! For it to be a perfect build of YDL 5.0 (or any other OS you want to install on the PS3) would be amazing! This is still all in an infantile stage of development and will continue to be until someone can figure out how to make specific drivers made specifically for the PS3.
Also, My friend and I have un\installed YDL multiple times with no problems. HOWEVER!!!! If you DO NOT have a screen that will output 720p, then you need to install with the 'installtext' command not 'install', and subsequently boot it with the 'ydl480i' command not 'ydl'. (I know that is covered in the guide but that seems to be something overlooked in the majority of others problems.'
Till then Happy installing,
xCirusX

Does is matter if you connect the PS3 to your TV via HDMI cable versus the component video cable?

It all depends on the resolution of your TV... Considering you are using HDMI, your TV should be 1080p... If not, then why are you using an HDMI cable???! Since YDL was made for 720p TVs, then there is a bit of a text size problem when it outputs up to 1080p/i...

@drew007m
As stated by xCirusx, it all depends on your TV (it's resolution capacity). I'm using HDMI (from my PS3) to DVI (my 3 1/2 years SONY Projector 55" Widescreen HDTV) and even if it didn't support 1080p, I was amazed and happily satisfied with 720p and 1080i (especially, I'm more than 10 feet from my TV).

when it says this:
Look for the line that reads:
id3:initdefault:
and change it to
id:5:initdefault:
If you can't change the line. Press [INSERT] on your keyboard before hand.
After you edit the file Press [ESC] which will switch back to command mode
Type :wq and press [ENTER]
after u change id:3 to id:5 i push esc and the ****** ******* thing wont go to command mode so i cant type wq and press enter, its pissin me off, wat do i do?
