How to use DVD Shrink with DVD Decrypter?

I hope this is not a repeat of other threads. I tried to search the archive a bit, but I found nothing that answered my question.
First let me outline what I would like to do. I want to copy a part (the main movie only) of a DVD that is damaged on a marginal "extra" part. The DVD is not protected (it'a Euro independent production DVD) but I don't manage to open it with DVD Shrink because of that damage. When I try to open it with DVD Shrink it starts anaylizing and goes well through all the part I would be interested to backup but it stops at 99% of the analysis because of an I/O cyclic redundance error.
As you know, if DVD Shrink doesn't manage to open even just a part of the DVD to shrink there is no way to edit and pick up only the rest.

Then I thought that I could do it using DVD Decrypter only to single out and copy on my hard disk the main non-damaged file to later on edit and shrink them with DVD Shrink.
DVD Decrypter in fact managed to copy the main movie files on my hard disk, but then when I try to open thase hard disc files with DVD Shrink, DVD Shrink doesn't recognize them.
Why does that happen?

Is there a different way to do what I would like to do?

Hi soljaris
Did you try opening them in re-author mode in Shrink? Open Shrink - click on re-author and find the file on the right side of the screen.
Drag it over to the left. Shrink will analysis it.
Okay there then just click backup.
