My goal is to be able to have one .vob file after I finish using DVD Shrink. However, I continue to have several VOB, ifo, and bup files when I am done. I have followed all the direction that I have found on this forum but the results are the same. I am not trying to burn DVDs I just want a copy on my hard drive (one file). Then I want to use that file to extract the audio and make one mp3 file of the sound. I have removed Nero from my system, I have reinstalled DVD Shrink several times, I have runned the Nero Clean up program, etc. Any suggestions? I would appreciate the help

Shrink will always output a complete set of video files in a VIDEO_TS folder.
You could try opening Shrink > Edit > Preferences > Output Files.

Uncheck the "Split VOB files into 1GB chunks (recommended)." box.

If your original is smaller than 1 GB then you should end up with a single large .vob along with .bup and .ifo files in a VIDEO_TS folder.

If this does not work then use Nero Vision to add the .vobs:

After adding the first .vob you will get a message:

"One or more VOB files that contain multiple segments can be imported as single video if their video properties match.
Do you want to merge VOB segments into a single video if possible?(If you click No, each segment will be treated as an individual video.)"

Click "Yes"

Remember that their is a maximum allowable size for .vobs (The DVD standard only allows a maximum of 1 Gig) so if you exceed that you may get errors.

Hello.

DVD video is divided into 1GB or less size files by standard convention. This can be overcome in DVD Shrink by changing the preferences:

Edit -> Preferences... -> Output Files tab -> uncheck "Split VOB files ..."

An IFO and BUP are generated since they are part of what's needed to play the title in a DVD player according to standards. You can delete them if you want. The single VOB should play without them.

I have tried that already with the same results

Edit -> Preferences... -> Output Files tab -> uncheck "Split VOB files ..."

Also using DVD Decrypter I have changed the "File Mode" to File Spliting to "None" and "IFO Mode" to File Spliting to None.

Any other ideas as to other setting that I need to change?

Hi.

I don't know what to tell you. I tried it before I posted to make sure what I posted worked. I ended up with a single VOB file of 5GB. I deleted the info IFO and the backup BUP and the VOB played with WinDVD and other software. If your file system is FAT32 and not NTFS, you won't be able to have a VOB file larger than 4GB.

You can also rip as an ISO image file and use Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% or Nero ImageDrive to mount the ISO as a virtual DVD. Any player will then play the virtual DVD.

I think VLC player will play the ISO without mounting with another program.
