If you're crashing with Shrink and DVD2One it has little to do with RI4M. As the guide pointed out, once RI4M is through ripping, it's all Shrink or whatever software you choose after that. Too many people have successfully used RI4M and Shrink for it to be flawed software.

when you put saw 3 in use dvd decryter and save it. where ever you saved it to open fixvts 1.6.0.3 and pick the dvd folder that you save it in and pick the folder that says video_ts have ter you done all that open DVD Shrink open with open files and pick the files that you just did with fixvts that should give ya the hole movies to back up.

Aye, I figured perhaps it was an option I was missing, a check box that wasn't described perhaps as I followed the guide to the letter, which is why I posted the log. I'll look through the thread again but I don't remember seeing a log made with this exact procedure. It's something in a setting with ripit4me or decrypter, since when I get to shrink or DVD2One it doesn't continue. (loads and anyalizes fine in shrink, but hit that backup button and the whole program vanishes, DVD2One gives a forced close by windows when I select the fixed movie)

Actually, I just tried playing the disc in the dvd drive, and it's not letting me. "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card." And this is the box I bought <.< Plays fine in the dvd player....crapola, although that is sorta unlinked from my problem I believe

Slysoft answered my email about saw 3 with any dvd, they said, Please remove the bogus titles that are on this DVD in the CloneDVD2
title configuration window. TitleSets: 01/04/06/07/15/16/17

You will recognize them because they only display a black screen in the
preview window.

If you want to use another compression program, use CloneDVD2 to rip to
harddisk (select DVD-DL as output size, so CloneDVD will not compress).

Best regards, guess a solid fix is not coming soon.

Did as slysoft sugested above and made a perfect coaster

Hopefully you didn't try to copy all the checks I had in preferences on the images. The images were only for pointing out the particular items I had written in the tutorial. In fact there could have been conflicting things from one image to the other, I didn't pay attention. Things should have been left at default settings and the things I pointed out changed as necessary.

I've heard people being unable to play the Saw 3 disc on their PCs. It opened on mine in WinDVD 8 from InterVideo. I have the difficult unrated version and so far I've not had problems, but I've played around with it enough to see the copy protection everybody is talking about is there. I've been able to use both RI4M and AnyDVD as decrypters. And for transcoding I've used DVDCopy 5, Shrink, and encoded with RB and burned with Nero. I forgot, CloneDVD 2 will even do backkups of Saw 3. Ireland mentioned DVDneXtCopy would do it with a plugin. You'd have to ask him about that one. But so far from my personal experince, AnyDVD or RI4M are needed for this one and according to how a person handles the software, there's several that will get a backup done. So far though, RI4M with Shrink was probably the easiest for a Full DVD.

RipIt4Me has now been updated to 1.6.6.

Hey pac I realized through all that I never thanked you for that guide though. ^^

Here's the thing, even though it crashed DVD2One, and it was closing Shrink, the whole time I thought when it was time to put in the blank DVD it would prompt me. When I put the blank in, DVD2One still crashed, but shrink no longer closed - it took me to the settings preferences for backing up the disc. From there on out it worked flawlessly. So if anyone else runs into a problem, after you successfully rip the disc, put in a blank... I was surprised I wasn't prompted for it so I never thought of it as the culprit. <.<

Thanks all! watching full version now. ;)

You're welcome. Now you know why I said put the DVD R in the drive before hitting OK. Glad you got your backup. Dialysis was saying FixVTS is up to 1.6.6.0. I just installed it. I got a full backup without problems using the 1.6.4.0.

C'mon folks, it's true SAW 3: UNRATED EDITION is a b.itch (sorry for the language), but RipIt4Me 1.6.4.0 and FixVTS 1.6.0.3 should be able to handle this flawlessly, regardless if it's a "full disc" or "Main Movie." And now RipIt4Me is up to 1.6.6.0, so ripping SAW 3: UNRATED EDITION should be a piece of cake.

Best of luck to all and happy burning.

Well it was closing on me before then though, in your guide it was after you clicked backup and selected the settings and such in shrink, it was closing on me when you click backup, period, before I could adjust the settings. :D

I had never used shrink before, but would have thought it would have given me a prompt if that's when it required a dvd, but I don't think at that particular spot it does, which was wierder. Especially since DVD2One still crashes wether there's a cd in or not. =\

What was happening to you doesn't sound normal. You'd normally get a warning instead of the program crashing. There may be something happening within your system that the load of recording software is causing to show up.

I just ran Saw3 through ripit4me and it worked perfectly. Now when I go to burn it to disk with Nero it says it's too big for disk. I thought dvdshrink would take care of this when i ran in ripit4me. What else can I do to make it fit? Are there still empty video files I need to get rid of? I thought the ripit4me takes care of everything?

Just made a flawless full copy of saw3, used ripit4m3,then dvd decrytper, then fixvts, went to shrink and set to compensate with errors, deep analysis, and record with Nero on 8x,copy came out perfect, first time AnyDVD failed me for full backup, but thanks guys for the info on how to do it with the above free programs, will always have these ready for the next tough one, since slysoft hasnt yet to crack it for some unknown reason.

When you entered backup did you select the Quality Settings when you were selelcting the options? Also, as I mentioned in the tut on 16, the Shrink is on it's own for transcoding once the files are opened. RI4M has no more to do after that.

Can you elaborate on the quality settings? I never know what I can and can't uncheck in shrink. I've tried getting rid of audio I don't need. Do I just keep the 5.1 channel? I like the menus and extras but I just burned a copy thats complete but theres only sound on the movie part not the previews. I had unchecked all the audio except 5.1 in the extras too.( first time I tried that, to save more room.) But apparently I unchecked too much because no sound in previews. I'm trying again now, without unchecking extras audio. Should be fine. What I still also don't understand is why when I ran ripit4me to do saw3 I sent the output files to a desktop folder. I saved them as iso image files. When I looked in completed files I had ifo, bup, and vts_ files. What files should I have had? And when I used Nero to burn them should I have done something besides running Nero express and adding all those files in that folder? The second time I ran shrink on those files from ripit4me and didn't add the bup files because I read they were just backups of the ifo files. Thats when Nero fit them to disk. But why this extra step through shrink after ripit4me? Thats why I ask, what files should I have after running ripit4me?

With audio you usually keep the 5.1 Dolby, at least for the movie. When there's DTS you don't want that unless you have the special equipment to play it. A bunch of the extras can have 2 channel or the 5.1. In Shrink you expand the Structure and then you can click on each title to check the audio to the right. You can preview the video on the screen below so you know what the audio goes to. Check out some of the comprehensive guides on Shrink.

I used AnyDVD 6112 and DvdClone2. The movie went on one disc and the bonus features on another disc both with menus. Took less than 40 minutes.
