I copied "SAW-III" with no problem, I first downloaded "ANYDVD" & "CLONEDVD2"..I put original dvd in drive, and opened up "ANYDVD", and click on the drive option that original dvd is in..It then gave me all the information about the original disc..I left "ANYDVD" running, I then clicked on "CLONEDVD2" and used the (MAKE EXACT COPY) function, I also made sure that the (PRESERVE MENU) option had a check mark..THE COPY IS PERFECT, IT HAS THE MENU, AND ALL..
HAPPY COPYING..(SMILE)..THIS SHOULD WORK FOR ANYONE ELSE AS WELL..

You're welcome, glad I could help. Yes, I'm sucha VobBlanker-holic simply because I want to edit/delete and blank out unwanted junks, and yes it usually helps to solve the looping issue as well.

Best of luck!!

If you update your AnyDVD they now have the fix for saw3,I burned my copy using ripit4me with dvddecrypter and then used fixVTS it then allowed me to burn the entire disc with dvdshrink or clonedvd2.if oyu only want the movie in CloneDVD click on the upper box and the disc will open right to the movie-good luck and good burning

I just finished burning a good copy of Saw3 using AnyDVD 6.1.1.4 and CloneDVD2 2.9.0.3. Copy time was 21:42 from start to finished.

Had no problem playing movie on newer dvd players and my 9 year olds xbox 360.

My older Panasonic dvd player refused to read the burned copy.

But I'm gonna swap it out with one of the new dvd players we have in the house. That one's going in the donation bin.

Great site, I love it here at AD.

Peace,
Jay

This was definitely an interesting movie to try and copy. After reading through this thread, I was able to successfully backup my copy of the move (full disk, NOT movie only) with the following methods:

1) AnyDVD 6.1.1.4 with CloneDVD2 - Cloned the DVD as opposed to copying the movie

2) RI4M in conjunction with VTSFixer and DVD Decrypter (latest versions of all software) (used the 1-click option in RI4M)

I am using a Plextor 716 DVD Writer and Verbatim DVDs to burn. Not that it makes a huge difference, but some people want to know all of the particulars.

Update AnyDVD t0 6.1.1.4 - you're quite a few versions behind.

As you can see from the other posts in this thread - the later versions of AnyDVD will handle this.

Hey ya'll!!!! Check this out... For all you that are having trouble with Saw III...her'es the ticket....Forget IFOEdit, dvdfab, clonedvd2....everyone says that AnyDVD won't do it but.....in conjunction with DVD Decrypter it will. AnyDVD will remove enough (90) protections to be exact....for DVD Decrypter to make a clean copy....than open DvdShrink....and navigate to edit/preferences/File I/O....under File I/O settings: check the "Read 32kb blocks (default is 64kb). Than proceed as normally with your re-authoring and so on....worked flawlessly for me....great crisp backup...cheers

I was able to successfully rip Saw 3 Unrated, but I do have a question using DVD Shrink & imbBurn, is anyone able to help me out with the questions below??

I'm backing up S3 on a 4.7 GB Verbatim DVD+R

I'm on this stage of backing up S3, and I'm curious about the 4 options of AC3 2ch English, are all four needed as I have a 2 channel receiver-speaker/dvd setup with an s-video cable from my dvd player to my TV?

Also the compression is 58.7% is there any impact of having at 58.7% & not 64% and above. Most of my backup's have been above that percentage.

Sorry to be detailed, just trying to seek out help regarding my questions?

Thanks in advance everyone, I apprecate your help.

And would that be version 6.1.1.4 you're using along with the DVD Decrypter?

@raOulduke
If you click on main movie you can see what audio is there. you can preview the movie and right click on the preview and see what each audio track is. If you want director comments you'll have to keep that one. I generally don't. If you are going to keep the extras you'll have to keep all of the audio tracks they have or
they will be silent. I usually save AC3 5.1 audio for the main movie and all of the audio in the extras. I'll also customize the compression on the extras and menus and reduce them down to a little closer to 50% so I'll have less compression in the main movie. I hope I didn't just confuse you

Dave

On the audio, expand the dvd structure and then highlight each section to check the audio individually. Then to the right untick the audio you don't want. You ca select Still Image in Compression settings to blank out the entire highlighted title if you don't want it. Editing this way leaves your menus functional. Editing in Reauthor doesn't allow functional menus, but is an easier drag & drop method. For higher compression be sure to use the Quality Settings in burn options. Whether 58 or 64% you need to lower the compression if possible. Shrink should still be able to do the job though.

@ Pacman777 & ForknDave;

Thank you both soo much... You helped me immensely with your tips. I ended up deleting the commentary by waldorf and statler aka the director and film crew peanut gallery audio lol.

Just one more question to follow up on your answers...

Is there a rule of thumb about not letting the menu & extras compression not to go below a certain % ??

ra0ulduke, depends on what your watching the backup on . if your watching it on a 27" CRT you won't notice much at a compression rate of 60%.but if you have say a Sony SXRD 60" like me your going to notice a difference if the compression is 85% or lower . thats when i use a Dual-Layer blank dvd or DVDRebuilder-- ProCoder2 or CCE

rick1951 Thanks for your help. Recording this movie on the fly was part of the problem. CloneDVD and AnyDVD did not work even when I used the AnyDVD ripper. I guess after I ripped it to the hard drive it was much easier. I used ripit4me, fixvts and clonedvd2 and I ended up with a perfect backup. I am going to experiment with the slysoft software again to try to find out what I am doing wrong because everyone is telling me it works.

chaseme5 , when use CloneDVD 2 + AnyDVD your better off letting AnyDVD read and remove the protection from the dvd then let CloneDVD 2 transcode then burn to disc

Depends on the quality you want for the extras. For instance a highly compressed full DVD (7.84GB) is about 50% for the movie and 45% for extras. The amount you can lower the compression depends on the size of the extras and the size of the movie. But for the DVD I have here, (007: TNDSE), the compression for Extras starts at 45% and can be dropped by about 5%, which in return raises the movie to 52%. Large movie, but goes to show the changes are going to probably be smallest where you need them most. You said you've seen it down to about 64%, so you know what it looks like. Just use good judgment, there's nothing set in stone.
