I had no problem with AnyDVD loading with the DVD. As I said, but maybe not clearly, I needed to edit problem titles, to get CloneDVD 2 to process the files. I wasn't the only one. In fact there are a number of posts with the info on which titles to unselect in CloneDVD 2 so the DVD would record properly. I wasn't the only one who enjoyed the situation. Slysoft had been busy with AnyHD but took time to address the problem. Note around the time of Saw 3 there was a flurry of betas and finally a new release.

AnyDVD History

6.1.1.4 2007 01 28
- Fix: With some DVDs having VOB files with zero length, fluxDVD
protection was incorrectly detected

6.1.1.3 2007 01 26
- New: Added support for new versions of the SONY Arccos protection
to the option to remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
- New: Added workaround for some drives (e.g. TSSTCORP DVD-ROM
SH-D162C) where disc insertion was not always correctly detected
by AnyDVD and decryption would not work.
- New: Added UDF 2.5 support to the UDF parser.
- New: AnyDVD status window shows larger volume names
- New: Recognizes HD-DVD video discs and correctly displays
HD-DVD volume names
- Change: Increased the number of possible errors on one disc
- Change: Increased the number of possible sector and file replacements
on one disc
- Fix: Removing Sony Arccos at the end of a title did sometimes
caused a "Navigation Pack error" or could cause the title to
disappear completely in elby CloneDVD.
- Fix: Short titles with read errors (Arccos) at the end of the file
were not handled correctly (e.g., special features in "Mirrormask",
Germany)
- Fix: Bug introduced in 6.1.0.7, disc recognition did not work
correctly
- Fix: Bug introduced in 6.1.0.7, driver could switch into safe mode
without reason
- Some minor fixes and improvements

If you noticed, both updates had aspects of the Saw 3 copy protection, newer Arccoss, and 0 length VOBs.

That strange because I didn't edit anything out of dvd files before I open CloneDVD and proceeded. I haven't used CloneDVD but maybe 5 times. I still use Recode. But CloneDVD did the movie just fine that night.

PacMan777 - Thank you very much for the guide. It worked like a charm. I made a full backup of Saw III and everything looks pretty good.

For when AnyDVD doesn't work pick up RipIt4Me, http://www.ripit4me.org , and DVDFab Decrypter. RI4M is the best. Both are free. None of these programs are 100% all the time.

AnyDVD figured it out weeks ago. The night it came out AnyDVD would do movie only with clone. All rippers are doing this movie. AnyDVD, Ripit4me, DVD Fab Decrypter, all working. Are you giving your drive enough time to read the dvd it's got 90 or so bad sectors. If you can't back it up return the disc for a new one; because this is not a hard one to do now.

Yeah, Garmoon's right, just about everything is getting the job done now. About the only problem is AnyDVD doesn't seem to be as flexible as it used to. It works best with CloneDVD 2. A lot of people have been complaining about the way AnyDVD has been working with other programs, such as Shrink.

I COPIED SAW 3 USING DVDFAB. FOUND IT ON MSN.COM... THEN I USED DVDSHRINK TO BACK IT UP. THEN USED Nero TO BURN IT.

I hate to be the bad guy here, but I do not want to look through the pages to get this question answered...

What (in all) was used to completely copy/backup Saw 3?

Download Ripit4me and install it with the installer file which also installs FixVTS.

The wizard is handy if you have older movies and want to make the choice of whether to use FixVTS or not. With the later movies with the heavy copy protection, think Saw3, it's best to use the 1-Click mode and let RipIt4Me go through the complete cleanup process. Do not use the ISO in the Rip mode when you want to use FixVTS. With Saw 3, FixVTS options should be left checked. You already have Shrink installed, so you need DVD Decrypter installed before using the installer (if you don't already have it). Last versions of Shrink and DVD Decrypter (not DVDFab Decrypter) should be used. If you don't have it, you can pick up a copy at MrBass.org. Garmoon mentioned it and I'll repeat it once more for emphasis, use the RipIt4Me installer (which also adds FixVTS) and not the zip files.

i think "the descent" was made the same way. I've waited two weeks before trying to burn these movies again. I'm going to read the last few pages of this thread for suggestions and hopefully tonight's the night!

Pac Man or anyone, I'm using your guide on page 16 (awesome) but i'm having a slight prob from the get-go...
i downloaded the full install on RipIt..but it didn't have an old version of fixvts in the home folder...regardless, i pasted the new 1.603 version there...my problem is that when I open the ripit preferences, the only shortcuts are to shrink and decrypt, no fixvts...also the "cleanup" prefs are for "VOBs" not Fixvts.
I did manage to install it as a selectable "tool" but I think I foresee a problem in the future if it's not part of the automatic process. any ideas? sorry if this is a dumb question or I'm missing something obvious.

thanks for the links aabb...seems to have worked anyway without fixit or maybe i didn't see when it was being used..regardless mission accomplished, and i really didn't do anything after the first click except put in the blank disc.

And Now, I would like to take this opportunity to say, that since the last person, myself, has made a copy of saw 3, I hope we can look forward to another few months of simple "shrink alone" friendly dvds.
And thanks to all the big corporate companies that spend millions, no perhaps billions, on keeping our little hobby going. Cuz if an idiot like me can just read off the internet and make a copy...it means your seriously wasting a lot of your share holders money!

hey i've got an idea, how about 200 vts files??? Look I just invented the next big encryption break through, and I don't even know what that means. Ha Ha Ha Ha. Goooooooodnight.
