i am going to canada nxt month and was wandering if i could buy i bunch of dvds out there and then use DVD Shrink to remove the region coding so that i can play them on mi uk dvd palyer i was just wandering if this is possible?
DVD Shrink will remove the region code and make them region free. Bear in mind that in GB the video standard is PAL and in Canada the standard is NTSC. Shrink won't help you fix that.
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada (NTSC format)
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland (PAL format)
DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs.
As stared by fasfrank, shrink will/can make the backup region free or what ever you want, but it will not be able to change the format (NTSC to PAL or PAL to NTSC), so the backup produced will not be playable in the UK unless:
1) your player can play NTSC disks
2) you convert the files to PAL then burn them to disk.
