I have been having this problem a lot lately - I usually rip & burn with DVD Shrink, with AnyDVD running in the background. I realize that some of the newer DVD's have protection that may be too much for that combination alone to handle, but it SHOULD work on older DVD's (I'm trying to back up Brazil - dvd was released AGES ago & shouldn't have anything too complicated as far as protection goes).

Anyway, I keep getting CRC errors during the burning phase. Right now I'm running it through RipIt4Me, but I've done that before & gotten the same error.

Something worth mentioning is that during the burning phase, it reaches 25%, then starts over at 0%. After that, it'll go as high as 30 something percent, and stop with errors. When it stops, though, it goes back to 25%. That seems odd to me.

The disk is slightly worn, but it plays fine in a DVD player.

I started out using RiData media. I just tried it with a Maxell disk and it still got the error.

*Bonus* I just bought a new Plextor PX-755UF, so we can rule out hardware right away.

Anyone have any ideas? Software settings, perhaps? I can post logs after I finish my attempt using RipIt4Me (which I predict will fail).

OK, so RipIt4Me was a failure even before the burning phase. I get "Invalid data in file C:\brazil\VTS_01_4.VOB"

I did run FixVTS on it when I don't think I needed to, though. I was just trying to make sure.

At least I didn't waste another blank dvd...

Is my source disk too scratched, maybe? If so, why the weird errors during the burning phase when I try to use my usual method?

I can also rule out scratched media - I ran the dvd through Plextools CD\DVD test and it found no errors (that took 4 hours). That pretty much narrows it down to software. Any ideas?

OK, I got it. I used DVDFabDecrypter to rip, and dvdshrink\nero to burn. DVDShrink & DVD Decrypter just wouldn't rip it right.

Thanks for all the help, geetus! ;) lol

You need to update RipIt4Me and FixVts.

You need the updates and when you install the latest version with the installer, the FixVTS will still need to be updated, unless they added the latest version within the past day or so. Let the installer put FixVTS in the Programs folder, if you haven't already and then copy the latest version into the folder over it.

It's strange. I didn't see an error in the RI4M log. What was the problem there. When it said Done, that indicates the quick analysis gave the compliance an okay.

That is not the DebugLog.txt file. That's the important one.

True the Debug log tells a lot, but the regular log tells the task completed when it says Starting Shrink and then Done. Usually when that happens the Debug log is uneventful as well.
