I just bought a brand new Wii.
How do I know which model it is?
which modchip is best in term of reliable, easy to install, easy to update firmware, etc....?
Please answer, I can wait to order a mochip and get my Wii modded.

I managed to modify my wii which was the newest type with the solder joints missing. Just thought i'd let you know it is a quite a difficult job to solder thewires to the chip. If you don't have much patience then it would be best to send away. As for the best chip that would be up to you. I'm using the wiikey which i've had no problems with since i managed to fit it but i believe there are better chips out there

Helloz.. I bought a wii key original from thailand. but i upgraded my wii to 3.0U sadly :(.
I heard that if I will face probs if i mod my wii. So wat do u ppl advice? Mod it now or wait for some fix from wiikey officials?

Hey TheReturn I only seen a comparison between these modchips so far CycloWiz, WiiKey and WiiFree.I plan on waiting to get a modchip,because I'm going to see if Action Replay affects any of them.I'm sure a softmod could be available as well,once the Action Replay comes out for the Wii.To detect what kind of version you have really depends on the chips inside the console (DMS / D2A / D2B).I think on the newer models they have a D2C chip located inside the system.I'm also waiting on the triwing screwdriver I ordered which is needed to open up the console.I don't think you can find a full comparison chart of all the modchips,because I haven't seen the Wiid and the WiiBoss chips compared either.I did see that the WiiBoss can use a programmer cable to flash the chip,and the CycloWiz is trying to add this in as well.I'm not sure what happened to the Qoob team or Viper team when it comes to Wii modchips,but if they come out with a modchip for the Wii I would suggest them.The only team I recognize from the GameCube era of modchips is the ninja team,they created the Wiininja modchip.If you want full GameCube compatibility I would suggest the Wiininja,and if you still having a hard time deciding on which one to get I would just wait to see what options are available later on.

Holly shit... I hope my system does not have D2C chip. I have not opened it yet but it is so brand new. I'm worry now.
If my system does not have D2C chip, I will buy the CycloWiz. It looks good right now.

I've been hearing the wiikey is the most popular, but yet their are the worst in all the chip. It was popular when it first came out with the cool feature upgradeable, now all chip can do it. Maybe ppls didn't know but the wiikey is not the only chip with overdrive region, all the chip does. Whatever it can do all other can do as all.
I quote this so ppls can see again. It not a charts but it very useful to those who doesn't know which chip to decided. Just edited, the wiinja can now supported double layers with their new upgrade. The wiikey is not so far.

well, you can, but it is illegal to download games without having a real copy. and to burn go to the sticky on it!! Oh for anyone asking about the best modchip. I love the wiinja deluxe and i still dont understand why noone wants it! no problems at all - fantastic!

yes i totally agreed that the wiinja deluxe is the best modchip. I don't cared what ppls said about that all modchip is the same, because they're really not, otherwise they all would have been 100 percent audiofix like the wiinja. And from my quote you will see the reason why is the best. I think the reason why ppls don't know about the wiinja deluxe is because of their previous model v1 modchip with bugged, but the wiinja deluxe is the new model and fixed all that problem and more improved. Other than that ppls still think the wiikey is still the best but really they're the worst.

I think the Wiininja is the best now with their new update as you mentioned ninjapath,and agree with you 100% the wiikey is the worst one to get.I can't get any modchip now since the modchip sellers/installers raid,but plan on getting one after the raids end I hope.

i dont want to sound like a noob or anything! but what is the ninjapath. and just out of curiosity if either of you have a pal wii with the wiinja deluxe can you install the update. ive read on the wiinja forums that its fine but im still cautious!! thanks.

Ninjapath is a username i used because i love ninja anime, or any fighting anime. So i decided that name. Yes the updated should worked just fine for pal, there nothing to be afraid.

OH GOD! i feel like a proper idiot now! i didnt realise tha your name was ninjapath! i thought it was an update or something. Another thing - you do have wiinja right!? i have never instaleld an update on my wiinja deluxe so when i downloaded it and installed it, it was not recognised?? what does that mean! thanks.

I didn't even know my username mean similiar to the wiinja chip, lol. yes i do have a wiinja, but i read a lot of info before i decided the chip. Ok when you said not recognised, does that mean you have a disc read error? if so, then that mean your chip is already updated. Did you burned the update to image and not a data?

ok, so i just *updated* too 3.0 but half way through it gave me an error. now it says im on 3.0 and shows the digital clock and all but i dont get why i got the error!??!?!?!!! i dont know if i should try the update a gain because it says im 3.0 and when i go to it gives me the IMPORANT message. any help! thanks.

are you talking about the wii firmware 3.0 updated? it should worked fine with the wiinja deluxe. The chip updated is different though, it doesn't have a bar updated like the wii with the firmware updated, it just rebooted after it done.

i still dont have a Wii yet but i've been looking at the mod options.. seems like wiinja deluxe is the best mod at the moment but does it play all back ups (Wii and GC) til this day? thanks.

The wiinja can played all gamecube import or not 100%, the wiikey still 50% with their currently audio problem. No modchips can play all region game, it had something to do with the wii region hardware. it only played partial region, but you can still play 100% on your owned region. So the wiikey and the wiinja deluxe and all other chips is the same, it only partial, it can played 90%(that a lots) different region games.

just to clarify.. so the mentioned chips (wiikey/wiinja) would work with the new Wii s right?
just curious then.. why does the 3.0U update matter? how does it have an affect on the mod? and is there a way to mod D2B? D2C?

How common are D2C chips nowadays anyway? I bought a wii a few days and sent it straight to be modded with everyones favourite modchip wiikey lol..what do ye think are the chances of a d2c im from ireland btw
