There is a new chip that has been just released for these Wii D2C consoles, the name of the new chip is D2CKey
We heard that these chip's will be in stores around the middle of Oct, but the D2CKey will be 28-wires and much harder to install. Currently the D2CKey is the only solution for D2C consoles.

The official site for the D2CKey is www.d2ckey.com

Man!

there is a 50% chance that I have a D2C chip!!

What can be worse!!

There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut."

runezerg - d2c is said to be the "unmoddable" chipset for wii.. but now it might be moddable.. its with a chip called d2ckey.. they release on oct 20th so u'll just have to check back after to see if ppl got it working.. but a warning for that chip.. it requires 28 wire connections.. so u better be good at soldering with tons of patience or just get a pro to do it haha..

wiinja is good, i've tried wiinja works fine.
Equally as fine is wiikey , working great.

if you have d2c chipset, d2ckey is reported working by modders all around.

pm me for services.

I've read through this thread but the information changes so rapidly.

I have an original Wii from back in 2006. I have a chance to get a cyclowiz v1 for $10 or any of the other chips. Based on the data today, which is the better choice? The cyclowiz guys advertise on their site that their chip is superior to wiikey and that it also now supports wiifree firmware updates as well.
http://www.cyclopswiz.com/

The cyclowiz v2 with on/off switch is also an option but is more expensive. I want to be able to play online and also make backups of my games and play them online. Is the off switch needed to be in stealth mode or can I just get the cyclowiz v1 and then put on the latest firmware and still be ready to go.

Some advice from the wii veterans would be great.

To tell which chipset you have, look at the serial number on the back of the console. It will begin LEH. From this you can tell which chipset your wii has:

For US consoles the serial number will start LU

I think the wiinja is better than the wiikey. It had the same feature but with an addition disable option that the wiikey doesn't have. Plus update is always first before the wiikey.

well as for the wiinja, i found i liked it more. they have support forums right on their website. the chip works fine and from experience more discs, but only if you use the new ones "deluxe" version.

wiikey after the 1.9b update seems to be great though, compatibility wise.

Yes that disable wiinja feature is great. don't even need a switch, just hold the reset and power button and your wii is "unmodded".

well, its sorta old news now. D2Ckey is the future, and maybe wasabi will hold true to their words and release a 5 wire mod for the D2C.

pm me for services.

You could check Divineo! They have a Wii Modchip for about $16, but I haven't heard much about it!

I need a Wii Modchip Installer near my area. I live in the Bay Area (Alameda). I am not willing to ship my Wii out. I either want to go to a location where you can install it, or you can come to my house.

Thanks

I've got a quick questions (hopefully)...

I modded my own Xbox 1 (so pretty decent soldering skillz) - and yesterday I picked up a Wii.

Of course after setting it up and hooking it to the wireless 'net, it wants to be "updated". Long-term, is that I plan on modding it to run backups; nothing illegal, just I do not trust the kids to NOT mangle the original disks beyond readability.

When I placed the original WiiSports game in (that it came with) it "updated" my Wii on the fly (akkk!). I am getting PSP flashbacks here! ;-)

Should I allow these to happen? I am assuming, similar to PSP - the games WILL NOT WORK without the updates applied. There is also a system update to 3-somthing... that adds keyboard support amongst other things. These updates seem "optional" compared to the game-auto-installed update.

Should I go ahead with the system update? Or try to keep it "virgin" like my PSP (1.5 still native.. but emulating the CURRENT OS for PSP With the Xbox - it doesn't matter because MY flashed BIOS is what runs and with the PSP it DOES matter.. you can't run the fix with higher levels of updates in the BIOS.

So I am trying to figure out how the Wii works in this regard. I have read about the "WiiBrickBlocker" to apply to prevent the auto-updates. Just curious about the main SYSTEM update.

Thanks!
