Hello, ive tried reading many pages but i cant find a good answer.
I will buy a japanese console this december, but it wont play american games that way, so my question is, what is the best mod chip i can install on it to play american games?
(What is the best mod chip for a japanese wii? and why?)

I just got another wii and was thinking of getting it chipped.
I never really like the wiikey so I won't be getting that for sure (but the people around my area ONLY provides this chip service... sucks -.-;)
I'm actually leaning towards a cyclowiz or a wiinja deluxe, which one do you think is better? What are the pro and cons of each?

You will be getting a GC2-D2C console your only choices are the Infectus and the D2CKey. If someone else mods it for you go with the D2CKey but if you're going to mod it go with the Infectus it will still be a pain but you'll have a third the wires to worry about.
Previously I mentioned the FlexPCB making the D2CKey easier well it turns out the you still have to solder the adapter to the D2C chip legs in which case you might as well just use wires and your back to 31 wires to solder. Even people that are very good at SMT type soldering will still have some potential problems with this.

Why? What's wrong with the WiiKey especially now that updates aren't a problem. You could buy your own PIC and go the yaosm approach as well. But like stated above if your console is new you probably only have two choices anyway. For differences between chips you really need to view a comparison chart that has been made by many people across several sites. Over all the differences are minimal and the key factor would be support for the older consoles D2B and prior. For the D2C console the D2CKey is encrypted so it will be a bit before it is compromised now the Infectus is a different approach and may require more support from Infectus.

HI, Iam trying to install wiikey, on of the small solder points on the driver came out, all the other points are soldered. What could I do?
The solder point the fell is not taking new tin?

You will need to update your WiiKey to the latest firmware level. There is a new Beta fix available 1.9g HOTFIX.
Wiikey update 1.9g (as in galaxy!) beta released!

Yes that disable wiinja feature is great. don't even need a switch, just hold the reset and power button and your wii is "unmodded".
well, its sorta old news now. D2Ckey is the future, and maybe wasabi will hold true to their words and release a 5 wire mod for the D2C.

As far as I know the WiiKey doesn't have a disable feature and this could be necessary in the future. With that consideration the Wiinja would be the way to go and is a very good modchip. I would think the WiiKey team would look into doing the same thing some time soon as it is a very good feature to have but you better have the original discs if you disable because your backups won't work.

I just installed my wiikey, and I was wondering how to put hombrew items on my wii. I want to put the games that you can buy from the wiishop on my wii. I also want to learn how to use homebrew with the wiikey.

A simple switch on solder point 2 takes care of that.

2nd - Download the file "1.9g-beta.rar".
3rd - Extract the files from archive to your hard drive.
4th - Burn the appropiate ISO image to a DVD-R.
bootdisc.jap.iso (for a Japanese console v3.1j)
bootdisc.pal.iso (for a U.K. / EU console v3.1e)
bootdisc.us.iso (for a U.S.& Canada console v3.1u)
5th - Put disc into console follow instructions
for flashing your modchip.

i have followed all your instructions and put it in the wii all it says is unable to read disc please refer to the troubleshooting manual or it says please press eject and turn the power off to the wii

I have been reading A LOT of forums about the wiikey, and noticed that in many peoples problems they say that they are able to read SMG at first. They then say that after about an hour or two, their wii does not read any of their backups anymore including SMG. They also said that they had the latest firmware with the 1.9g patch. Why is this? I herd that this is due to burning out your wii.
Please more info on burning out the wiikey and wii.

A mate bought the WiiKey from here http://www.gcwii.co.uk/ £12.99 free UK delivery and it came next day, couldn't believe the size, about the size of a 5p coin, there is also a fitting guide on the site, mate hasn't fitted yet as he is waiting for screwdrivers to arrive from Dealextreme.

I just bought a 100 pack of Memorex DVD-R discs from office depot. They have dots all over the top, and I was wondering if anyone knows if these would work on for Wii backups since I don't want to open them yet until I am sure.

I have a HP Lightscribe dvd burner. The only Verbatim or TDK dvds that are lightscribe are DVD+r. What is wrong about using +R media and is there any known issues with using lightscribe DVD's?
also if you know of dvd-R lightscribe in these two brands please let me know....
