THANK YOU
Memorex is crap media but the -R's you are speaking of work well the +R's vary quite a bit even in the same spindle batch, some may work and then some won't. I use the 100pack you are talking about and have had zero errors.

Sorry I haven't been checking the board lately but it sounds like you need to try different media -R/RW would be your best bet and burn as slow as supported by your Burner/Media combo permits. Try using ImgBurn to burn your ISO to disc and again use the lowest burn rate it say is supported. You can find ImgBurn in the software section of this board if you don't know where to find it from. You may even want to update your burner?s firmware, flash the drive, if so go to the MFG's website and download the correct firmware for your model of drive, don't go to CDRFreaks or one of the other generic firmware supported sites.

Do you need the wiikey to play wii backups that you save to a micro sd or sd card. If so, can someone please explain to me how to do this.

THANK YOU
You can't play Wii backups on an SD card the Wii doesn't support SDHC, any card bigger then 2GB. You can play Wii Points games that you download from Nintendo on your SD, I believe, and you do not need a modchip for that of course.

Guys im not sure if my wii is wiikey. I inserted on it the wiikey1.9 update and it run SO I ASSUME IT IS WIIKEY.

I have a doubt: i updated wiikey with 1.9 and the run 3.0 SMG firmware. But in order for SMG to work i need to run the 1.9g update after the firmware. Can I update the wiikey again easly?

I own a v1 Wiinja and now I'm thinking about buying a Wiikey, but I have one big problem: How will I be able to uninstall the Wiinja so I can install the Wiikey without harming the console? Any help is apreciated.

I assume that you mean update 1.9b when you say that you updated with 1.9.

If the 1.9b update ran fine, then you should be able to run 1.9g

Anyway, your questions will be answered by reading this thread.

I am totally new to this whole nintendo Wii mod thing, so I was hoping for some help. I have a Wii that was purchased last month with a serial of

LU3244666XXX and I am not sure which mod chip I should get installed. That is the beginning of my worries. I know I can get the D2C chip installed but that would cost me $150.00 where I am, but I was wondering if the CycloWiz V2 would also work?

HI All Experts,

Need your help.

My friend has a MOdified Wii brought over from Taiwan.

When he tried to connect to the internet through the wii..... it said that an update was available....he chose not to update at this point.

His question is if he updates then will that affect the running of the wii etc.

Any & all help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,
can the D2C chip work on the old 2006 version wiis? I hear it has full support for different region games, http://www.wii-modchips.com/compare.htm and other chips are not as good... I want to be sure I am able to play US smash bros brawl, since europe are getting shafted by the looks of things.

I might get a wiinja deluxe either since its easier to install, anyone know how good wiinja deluxe is at playing NTSC games on a PAL system?? (with brick blocker)

...What ever happened to WiiD btw, I was about to purchase it until I came here!

Cheers,
Damo

Everyone so far has reported that it is safe to update the wii over the internet to the most current version. I don't have a mod chip but read the other posts and you will see.

wiigame,

if your wii was chipped than it was opened and your not going to get any support from nintendo however if you want it removed you just get a soldering gun and a desoldering pump and heat up the points and suck the solder out. If you are not comfortable with this you will want to find someone who is

Hello all !! I am new here, and also new to Wii and modding.

I installed a WiiKey a couple of days ago in my D2B Wii.

I have read the thread on WiiKey file updates, etc.

My 1st problem is that the Wii is functioning as before the chip install. The solder joints are all good (did a short wire install in case I should ever have to remove it). I used the hologram sticker on top of the chip as an insulator. I downloaded & extracted both of the config files and burned them to discs (Verbatum +R DVD @ 2X. My Wii was updated back in December to 3.1U (before I knew about modchips).

Right now, If I turn on the Wii, go to the disc channel, and try to load either of the config discs, I get the "Unable to read disc" message. This is also the case with NTSC/USA backups. I don't know whether I have a problem in the discs (I didn't have any -R's, but will get some), or if I have a possible defective chip, or a problem in the file management on the discs. I have also burned the 1.9B recover as well as 1.9G upgrade in file chopped / padded format. Wii cannot read them. Any help? Oh yeah, My multimeter bit the dust a while back, and I will pick up a new one today just to run a continuity check, but it appears that all of the solder joints are fine. I used ImageBurn and ExtractNow for the file handling. I am somewhat unclear as to the filechop method, so I used the "ready made" recover & 1.9G files linked on this site. Right now, I am not too concerned with the backups not working, but the Wiikey config & upgrade discs not running tells me I have a more basic problem like a bad chip?????

Thanks,
Bill

I've read most of the posts here and I was hoping someone can uncloud some things for me. It is kinda hard to follow because these change so quickly.

I bought my Wii on launch day. I work with someone who teaches electronics. He offered to install it for me so I don't care how complicated the install will be. He has the skills to do right. I would like a key that will let me play back ups, maybe imports (it wouldn't be a deal breaker if it couldn't), let me play online, easy to update and will allow me to do system updates from Nintendo. Is there a chip that will let me do all this? I saw some had the ability to be turned off.

My co-worker just got one for x-mas and wants me to be a guinea pig for this who backup thing.

Thanks in Advance.
