In my add-remove progs list, the icon is that of the windows recycle bin. What, I need to uninstall it and reinstall? But how in the heck does the icon change, some result of MS updates or what?

That is an OS glitch. As long as it's just the wrong Icon there is no need to worry about it. With software from the same companies, I've even gotten some icons mixed up on the taskbar. With swapping files between ImgBurn and DVD Decrypter, I got some icon confusion there as well. So, it's nothing new and nothing that hurts anything. Strange you got the bin icon though. That's one I haven't seen yet.

Appreciate your shared experience. As a little un-nerving to see wrong icon ('non-empty' recyle bin), I unistalled/reinstalled it and the darned thing's still the same. All other icons are fine including 'Shrink ones in prgoram files, just the one in add-remove is bunky. Pretty certain I'd have noticed this oddity before and am convinced a slough recent MS updates caused it.

I get the updates automatically and haven't been cursed with that problem yet. Knock on wood.

I forgot, what sometimes happens is something causes the Icons to get mixed up in the System 32 folder. Like I said, as long as the programs react the way they're supposed to, it's nothing to worry about.

Okay. Uninstalled it again, disabled both my TrendMicro AS and Kaspersky AV, used RegistryBooster to repair things and reinstalled it. Joy.

;) That's a lot of work for an icon that's hidden anyway.

You could always use Tweak UI to repair icons as well as a lot of other nice little tweaks.

OCD? I've been accused of having that problem. Fortunately, if I do, it isn't a full blown case.
