if you type the ip address of the router into your explorer/firefox tab you should be able to log into it and change what ever settings are affecting your game. Google around on logging into dlink routers

you will get a black dos command screen.

type ipconfig

this will tell you all you need to know about your ip and network stuff.

try typing this
192.168.1.1
if the password box comes up type: admin for both
you do not eneter the IP address of your PC to get to the settings, you enter the IP address of the router.

How is is your router connected to your computer?
What Brand of router do you have?
What are you using as your Web Browser?

you do not put it in a search bar, you put it in the address bar, where you would normally see the address of the web page your on.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/message_repl...83&forum_id=152
like that address for example.
just type 192.168.1.1 and a pop up box should come up asking a user name and password. then enter what Domreis and myself have written for your password and user name.
After that you should be at a page that has all of the settings for your router.
http://www.lycoming.edu/acad/Linksys%20W...nd%20Router.htm
something like this.
http://support.dlink.com/supportfaq/
the web page should also tell you how to do it.

that is the reason you cannot open your configuration page. You need to have it Hard Wired
can you do that?

to change the settings, it doesn't matter if you are hard wired or wireless.

For a dlink, open IE/Firefox, type in 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 - if neither of these work, open the control panel, open network connections, and right click the networking adaptor you're using 9lAocal Area Network for wired, wireless network for wireless), left click on status, and click the "support" tab at the top. Look for the gateway, this is generally the IP of your router.

When it asks for the login username/password, the default dlink information is always admin for the username and no password. Admin/Admin (or just admin for the password) for linksys, and admin/password for netgear.

After you're in there, refer to your documentation for port fowarding on your router - if you don't have the documentation, go to dlink's website and you'll be able to find the information there. I would suggest that you give your xbox a static IP address if you're doing port fowarding to it ... if the ip changes on the xbox in the future you'll have to set it up all over again. You setup the statis ip in the network settings on the xbox. To know what settings to use, go back to that support page I mentioned earlier, click the "details" button, and you have all the information you need there. The only thing you will type into the xbox differently is the Ip address. Generally if you give the xbox an ip ending in 200-240 you'll be fine and don't have to worry about 2 devices having the same IP causing problems.

So, now, for instance, you give the xbox the ip 192.168.1.234 - you need to foward the necessary ports to that IP address, 192.168.1.234.

Once you figure out where the port fowarding page is, it should be pretty straight foward. It could also be under something that says applications, firewall, etc - just do a google search on "port fowarding" and then add in the name of your router (not just the brand name, dlink, but the model number).

Good luck!

sjeez man just search some friggin google (
2 searches 2 hits).. this site (www.portforward.com) got it all.. just click your brand and model, then click ANY program from the list to start forwarding ports...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874

MORE INFORMATION
Most broadband routers use Network Address Translation (NAT). Windows Internet Connection Sharing also uses NAT.

For most devices that use NAT, port forwarding is not required to connect to Xbox Live. This is especially true if you use an Xbox Live certified device. Port forwarding should only be needed if you use a proxy server or a true firewall device instead of, or in addition to a NAT. Sometimes, you may have to configure port settings on a non Xbox Live certified router or gateway.

If there is a firewall device between the Xbox console and the network device, you may have to configure the firewall to enable communication on specific network ports. If the NAT status in the Network Status area of the Dashboard is "moderate" or "strict," you may have to configure port settings.

The following ports must be available for Xbox Live to operate correctly:
? UDP 88
? UDP 3074
? TCP 3074

geez man, chill out - anyone can search google for the answers, but this stuff is like chinese if you don't understand what it all is. All that stuff from MS means nothing if you have no experience in setting it up - give the guy a break. we're helping him and explaining it all ... much better than google or MS have ever done.
