gardfly1,
Welcome to the forum. Nero 7 and Shrink do work together if you setup Nero to automatically burn the files Shrink Makes. You will though need a ripping program and I'll suggest either Ripit4Me or DVDFAB Decrypter. Nero 7 is supposed to be the upgraded version of Nero 6

I've owned both Nero 6 and 7. Nero 7 is upgraded and also has some additions. If buying you might want to go with Nero 7. If all you want to do is use Nero as a burner with Shrink, either 6 or 7 works fine. No need to upgrade to 7 for that if you already have 6. The free ImgBurn is also a good burner program (and free). Like Car.Mike said, you'll need RipIt4Me or DVDFab Decrypter to bypass copy protection. The decryption software portion of Shrink is out of date. You can do good DVD backups without having to buy any software. Retail programs add some nice options and I have to say, I have a bunch of it. LOL

Same queston I had.
Nero does work with Shrink.
Are the set up instructions on Shrink site for combining Nero and Shrink?
Will Nero Version 6 work with DL Disks?
I would like us these with Shrink.
Thanks,

Nero 6 was a little buggy with DL, that's one of the reasons I moved on to Nero 7. If all you're interested in is a burning program good with DL, check out the free ImgBurn. Most guides show how to set burn options in Shrink. It's straight forward, when you click Backup a window opens with tabs. Review all the tabs and note the drop down window options. You'll see your burn (output) options. Some of the older guides don't mention quality settings, also in the Backup window. Check them if the compression is very much at all for a better video. There are Shrink guides here at AD and on other forums. http://www.dvdshrink.info has interactive guides some people find helpful.

Great!
I will try just to stick to Image Burn.
I do like to have at least 2 burning tools.
So I will look into Nero Version 7 and Roxio Version 7.5 Retail version which will work with DL's.
Most appreciated,

mrbear27,
Nero and Roxio are still having problems finding the correct Layer break flag and padding issues. You are way better off staying w/ Imgburn to do D/L.

Lastly,
I just received this reply,
IM only burns,"Disk Image" file you already have or created to disk.
It can not be used to select files to burn to disk like Roxio can.
He seems to be implying that Nero can not do this.
What does this mean?
Most appreciated,

mrbear27,
You can select files to burn using Imgburn. The program reads files, write files, verifies burns and builds files. Nero can also do it as can Roxio but they are more buggy. After the files are ripped to HD you can use Imgburn , but it is only a burning program. Roxio and Nero can import AVI files and make them into a DVD plus they do alot more but if you want DVD-Compliant files for a DVD then rip it w/ Ripit4Me and then use Imgburn to burn.

Ok!
Thanks for putting a smile on my face!
That completely answers my questions.
Off to read Image Burn instructions.
By the way,
I tried some Dynex DL disks.
They are worthless.
Now I am going to purchase a package of Verbatium DL's.
I have been told they are the only disks to use.
Thank you again for everything!!!!
