yes it usually happens when downgrading but sometimes can happen doing other homebrew things

isnt there like a....3.10 oe-something? around? and mrmcman, all the custom firmwares have to be upgraded from 1.5 *i think, correct me if im wrong* and if you want one, then...yeah, downgrade to 1.5. your probably thinking and already said y not just downgrade to a firmware ware theres already a downgrader for? well, theres a better chance of it getting bricked, may not happen, but u wanna risk it?

If and when you do downgrade, upgrade straight to 3.03 OE-C totally customizable, and will still play all your homebrew and added ps1 emulation.

u can upgrade to a custom fw form a lower cusom fw, along with from 1.50. and, ya ur right, there is prolly too much bricking risk in double downgrading

Is it possible to "look" at a decrypted firmware? like open it up in a text file? I also heard about psar dumper but I'm not quite sure what it is...

It is possible to decrypt, dump, and view the firmware. You need a firmware decrypter for your firmware and just follow the instructions.

since the 3.30 custom firmware is out, Dark Alex maybe coming out with a downgrader for 3.30 rather than 3.11.. but you will have to wait like everyone else.. but if your firmware is 3.11, plz dun upgrade until a 3.30 downgrader is out.. and if you nid any information, please read the who thread.. thank you..

nope, you just need the firmware you want to decrypt, i.e. if you want to decrypt 3.11, you must have 3.11 firmware on ur psp.

@drummer4, You need to be running custom firmware to decrypt 3.11.
DATA_PSAR is extracted from the 3.11 EBOOT, placed at the root of your MS and decrypted.
You cannot decrypt any firmware with an offical install of Sonys firmware, must be custom firmware.

no it only works with gta lcs, NOTHING ELSE WORKS
and besides, why would gta work on a 3.11? once sony found that security hole in their firmware 3.03, they obviously would've patched it in future firmwares so people can't do it again....duh

@camaro17, so we can emulate via devhook, but there isnt much in 3.11 thats different from 3.10, security patches etc (which avent worked).
Point being, if they can decrypt it, its good news for 3.11 owners.
They just have to sit tight and wait.
