The main problem according to your log is that your burner and choice of DVD disks are'nt getting along.
Here:
Insert empty disc to write to.
(Medium in drive: unknown. Medium required by compilation: DVD.)
and
Media Specific:
60 00 10 20 30 40 50 00 - 00 00 21 00 00 00 00 00 `...0@P...!.....
02 FE 10 00 02 FF A0 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
These two areas suggest that the burner is unable to correctly recognize those Verbatim disks, so it's having trouble writing to them. Your burners firmware is upto date, so that's no help, try burning at 4X to see if that helps. You might want to consider another brand of DVD disks, like Sony.
Also, make sure you enable DMA mode for all drives, this one is set most likely to PIO mode:
DiskPeripheral : SAMSUNG HM120JI nvata Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
Here's a guide for enabling DMA mode:
http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm
or
http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/
Lastly, here:
File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=8.0.0.212 , size=2560 bytes, created 8/19/2005 4:00:00 AM
This suggests that you have or may of had ROXIO 8 installed, normally if you have Nero installed, having ROXIO also install isn't always a good thing. You don't appear to have INCD installed, so having both apps might no be a problem, if you decide to remove roxio, the proper way is to use the zap tool found here:
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Ro...load-21600.html
Start with these suggestions and see if you can get a successful burn.
NOTE: Your version of Nero is a bit old, consider updating, it's free.

SATA drives don't work on DMA-PIO. So it doesn't matter if a SATA drive reads DMA off.
I agree with John, media and/or driver conflicts may be a problem. The easiest thing to do is try different media, a good Sony +R is what I've had good luck with. Wally World (Wal Mart) and other stores carry them all the time. If no go then, I'd try a burn using ImgBurn just to see if it's a problem specific to Nero or one that effects the system when trying to burn with any program. If still a problem I'd eliminate the possibility of conflict with the Roxio driver, delete Roxio and use Roxizap.
When updating check with Gwen and the gang in the Nero forum for the last stable release and links. Nero 6 was bad for certain versions being loaded with bugs. If you were planning on it, now would be a good time to upgrade to Nero 7.
