No. It's my favorite ripper, but there's other software that can get the job done. I think DVDFab will be safe as long as DVDIdle wants to keep it free. I've got the DVDFab Platinum, so the freeware is no big deal. I've also got AnyDVD and DVD Region + CSS Free. I also have FixVTS, VobBlanker, IFOEdit, and PgcEdit and a few other odds and ends.
I'll use the RipIt4Me till it's obsolete and then move on. I try never to rely too heavily on one piece of software. That's the way I handle the encryption and copy protectin scene. Hopefully we'll see another player step up to the plate if RipIt4Me is out.

Give me a few for a quick install guide - just wanted to test all out on one my pc's that didn't have RipIt4Me or FixVTS.
Since FoxVTS was incorporated in a prev. version of RipIt4Me just wanted to make sure all ok :)
Txs for putting that pack together!

Hi Binkie:
This is no joke. Ripit4me is gone. Downloading the newest version will be obsolete as soon as a new encryption comes out. AnyDVD is the way to go here, even if it does cost 49.00usd.

Hey ALAND
Long time no see! Hope all is good.
Yeah when I 1st saw it I didn't really think it was a joke - hoping but doubtful. It's a huge shame to see another one bite dust for being updated and taken down by the 'Big Boys' - screw them
@janrocks
Here's the little install guide: install

Maybe some one will update the PSL plugin for PgcEdit.

I'm wondering if the problem is related to the DVD Decrypter - Macrovision situation. After all, DVD Decrypter is a key component of the RipIt4Me system and Macrovision shut down Lightning UK.

i hate to see this kind of thing too:
More P2P Sites Shut Down
about more p2p sites being shut down that in the past year or so involved over 1.6 MILLION registered users. one of my favorite sites, really the only one i use, disappeared a few days ago and there has been no news that i can find whatsoever about what has happened or is happening. it kinda scares me. i gotta admit, i really hate the big brother types...

@Car.Mike
But ripit4me didn't have the decrypter program embedded in it, did it? It just used it for the ripping. Much like Shrink uses Nero for Burning or decrypter for burning. JM2C

garmoon,
DVDDecrypter is owned by Macrovision and Ripit4Me utilized that program to do the rip. If Lightning UK had released the code to the program to the public domain before the Macrovision fiasco then I doubt anything could be done. But since Ripit4Me used a program that they did not expressly own nor had rights to then Macrovision was w/in their right to demand that they remove it or face court. Since we do not truly know what happens the above senerio is just speculation on my part but it does make sense.
They could though develop and utilize their own ripper that they develop and then release that in a new version and then they should not have any problems. If they did this then they should release the code to the public as this would somewhat hinder the powers that be if they were to take anyone to court

I see what you're saying, but AnyDVD enables decrypter to do basically the same as ripit does with decrypter. But Slysoft is on their own little island. LOL. You're probably right tho. Interesting 24 hr in the DRM battle anyway. One down but two will replace it like Mickey and the Sorcerer's Apprentice's brooms.

Nah all the txs goes to you for putting it together!
What's kinda weird is digital-digest either was told to or voluntarily pulled the sub forum on RipIt4Me and guides.
But the sub forum for DVD Decrypter and guides are still there.
It also looks like RipIt's servers may have been in the US but I'm not the best a reading these but some is obvious:(links from cd freaks)

Nah I don't think Slysoft has anything to do with this - an admin at digital-digest squashed that rumor saying they had nothing to do with it - all they would say is it's a serious situation.
How much we'll ever find out - who knows.
Oh and no problem on the simple install thing :)

Whatever.. It looks like the plug has been pulled by people upstream from the writer/owners. I wonder if slysoft (who make a pretty penny out of dvd rippers) have had a hand in this?
@cufu.. would you really trust a US download mirror for this software now?
@ Binkie.. Thanks again for the install guide. I put the files on the free download area of rapidshare, and changed my profile page links accordingly.[/quote]

I don't think a US server would matter that much. The ISP can track what you're getting wherever it comes from. For those who buy slysoft, the card fraud departments have been making some calls to verify the sales. Now talk about big brother taking a look. ;) Is it safe to buy Slysoft or any other ripper software? Ever consider those card purchases for bulk amounts of DVDR media? I suspect the ripper authors and vendors, and pirates will be sought out before the individuals who are only backing up their purchased DVDs.
