There's really nothing more to discuss about RI4M. It's gone. It would be interesting to know what happened. Reporting the news can't be mistaken for breaking copyright law. Talking about what might have happened is interesting in a conversational way, but accomplishes nothing more than giving our take on the situation. This hasn't been an organized discussion on how to break copyright protection and easily falls under the allowable. Most of us have just been commenting on the current state of affairs and what seems to be happening.

According to the statement about Finnish law, it appears no supplying of illegal software or guides on how to use illegal software is to be allowed. That's pretty clear.

Which supports my point about freedom of information.

The way we can fight back??
In Sweden by voting for the Pirate Party, In the rest of the world? By keeping the pressure up about our "fair use" rights.

HI !!!!

Exactly.
And the fact that people can't discuss or speculate about a subject worries me a lot.
With subject I don't mean breaking copy protection. I mean the story behind those 'incidents'.
A few days after Ripit4me was taken down I was on DD and I was shocked how they handled the whole situation. Closed all threads with discussions about it and the like.

So I went to AD to get some info because I'm freakin' curious about the whole thing.
I want to know why Ripit4me was taken down and why every discussion about it is oppressed.

Of course I can also understand what janrocks means when he says that we have to be careful about posting guides and links for breaking copy protection and stuff like that.
But that is not what I'm intrested in. I just want to know what happend... that's all.

Or did we reached the state of Orwell's 1984 ?
For all paranoids:
1984 + 23 = 2007 ;)

bye

I checked with ddp who saw nothing wrong, but to save creaky some chasing around I believe he ran it past an admin. I think it's ok as long as it isn't a direct link from the forums.. what we do on our profile pages must have some kind of "user responsibility" clause in the licensing.
there are a lot of direct links from this site
we all see it every day..here and shout box's

as of what creakys posted it can also go for AnyDVD...

While both programs essentially do the same thing...AnyDVD isn't the one being monitored at the moment.

Hey creaky: I don't know why people are making it seem as if the world has come to an end, its just another proggy that has hot the dust. Get over it. You can talk about this until your blue in the face, that will not make it come back, as for talking about it, I think " Free Speech " in still in effect, except at DD. As far as I know, no other forum has been contacted about this, DD hosted it, that why they were contacted.

- indeed. I've only been posting on the subject of RI4M to subtley suggest people reduce the amount of posting in case it causes trouble for AD or the author (it might not, i certainly don't claim to know all!)

- hey there; another 'indeed' from me, i haven't used the program and without wanting to belittle the author's efforts at providing what's obviously an extremely useful program/utility, there are still alternatives for us 'consumers'. If there were no alternatives left, we should save our tears and mourning for then..

I agree creaky, and by the way Ripit4me, is still a viable proggy, all it really needs is updates for FixVTS. The only reson this program will dye is because the users will let it. DVDD still live and workarounds have been found. This is all foolishness.

Which makes it totally irrelavant to this thread...

This one is spiralling out of control quickly, perhaps it is time to close it as we may never get the concrete answers we want. All comments are made on rumors and speculation.

Until a new protection scheme is introduced R4M should work just fine. The wizard w/PGCedit hasn't and probably won't be updated anymore so we will be using AnyDVD and DVDFab products until the new "boy wonder" hits the streets.
