I am having the same problems as you with X-copy platinum. And the customer service from 321 studios has been very poor since the release of their new products beginning in Sept. Please let me know if you have found a fix for why the start button during the record phase does not work when a blank disc is inserted after the Dvd has been stored on the hard drive as well as why the TDF and browse mode does not function.

Good Luck.

Why people buy software when there are great free programs here at AD!

The tdf and brouse does not funtion because it is not implemented yet. The burn issue should be resolved with yesterdays release of 3.1.0

Had I only known about other shareware programs before purchasing X-copy premium, I would have not have done so. Nevertheless I am not having very good luck at making backup copies of movies with any of the software that has been downloaded. I have already produced about ten coasters. I get write errors in Nero 6 or during playback I arrive at a scene that freezes and can not proceed further in viewing the movie.
It is ashame that 321 studios releases a product that does not work yet, were features advertised such as browse and tdf files still is an inoperational feature. I was also very dismayed at the response time from customer service. And when a tech did respond, they did not yet have a solution.

I have Platinum, too. It has problems, but I can live with them -- as long as they're trying to fix the problems.

But Platinum is not the only tool in my toolbox, as is the case with many forum users. In cases where a product works for me, I pay for it to encourage further development.

I take the free stuff, too. Some people are always looking for a hack, a serial number, or something to rip off a programmer's hard work. Their idea of "free" is "let me get a copy of it without paying for it." When it comes to shareware, some people's idea of "free" means not even using PayPal to reward shareware programmers for their hard work.

And, just as mechanics don't use a single tool to fix everything on an airplane, no one should have just one tool to make their videos. A good mix of "free," PayPal, and pay programs will get the job done. Platinum has its boogers, just like other programs like DVD2One, DVD Decrypter, ad nauseum, but there are plenty of forum folks who can help you get what you can out of the products.
