What kind of media are you using?
Have you checked for any firmware updates for your burner?

what other programs are you using to make your backups? DVD Shrink has not been updated in quite a while and it will never be updated again, you might try another program to do your ripping, and you can still use shrink to make your ripped movie smaller

If you can find a download for RipIt4Me, it's still about the best and easiest freeware for doing the job. DVDFab Decrypter instead of DVD Decrypter is another option. It may need FixVTS processing sometimes for the new copy protections, but it's doing most without it. RipIt4Me includes the FixVTS code for compliance processing after it uses DVD Decrypter for the rip. That's why I prefer it. AnyDVD and CloneDVD do well, if you don't mind spending $70~$80. AnyDVD has had a problem working with Shrink on the new copy protections. So that combination is a bit limited.

You forgot to mention that the I/0 interface can be SPTI or Elby. Also, besides turning off check for structure protection, the CSS cracking needs to be turned off as well when using DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD. RipIt4Me and DVDFab Decrypter are free.

Good luck. One of the reasons I switched methods was the heavier protections were messing with compliance so much, it was difficult to get a good rip with AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter. Plus the files often needed compliance processing when a rip could be achieved with the heavy protection.
