@reit
open a folder, then click tools >folder options >view > and uncheck "hide file extensions for known file types"

@mat
If your clicking on "Theme Settings" on your XMB, and a grey theme comes up, with grey background, then you havn't replaced your original 1-12.bmp. Check your RESOURCE folder and make sure there is only 1 image file in there

@chanman
The resolution doesn't really matter its the filesize. Resizing it brings down the filesize. So you could have a bigger one than that

when you say replaced my "original 1-12.bmp" do you mean my computer should have asked me if i wanted to overwrite the file right?

thanks to chanman1 i was was ble to get a default resource folder and try again. so i named my pic 01-12.bmp (i disabled hiding file extenstions to make sure i named it right) and it still didint work so i compared it to the default file (the white box) with my pic and found out that the dpi is different. could this be stopping my xmb wave from showing?is there any way to change a pics dpi? dpi= dots per inch
or someone with a xmb wave over custom background could upload their 01-12.bmp file they use so i can figure why my pic wont work.
