5.you need to be on 3.03 to use GTA, so for your firmware there might be another way, look through the threads or google '2.8 downgrade' or something like that
Thanks sk8flawzz your answers took me a long way. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. Yeah, from what I've researched, I need to upgrade to v3.03, then use GTA to get back to v1.5, then go back up using an OE version.

no prob. i think you wouldnt have any problem downgrading since you have the GTA already. good luck. just ask if you encounter problems.

Actually that is the problem. I'm still looking for GTA. I can't find a copy that doesn't cost a bundle on ebay. Checked the local video stores last night, but no luck :(

tough luck. just try to ask some of your friends who owns a psp and hopefully they have that umd. who knows right? coz it's a little costly if you buy it from ebay.

Hi..
I am wondering if my problem is related to the actual iso that I downloaded why it won't work with 3.40 OE-A. I see people were able to play DragonBall Z on this ROM and I can't get it to work. It acts like it will run and then the psp screen goes black and basically i have to exit out or power off the PSP. Please help!

Does anyone have instructions or a link on how do get a clean install of 3.40 OE?
I upgraded from 3.10 OE and ever since most of my ISOs won't play. I've even tried going back to 3.10 but experience the same problems. As far as how I upgraded to 3.40.. I used an easy installer to place the files on the memory card, set the kernel 1.50 and ran the eboot to install 3.40.. the installation process seemed to go fine.. but now most ISOs don't work :(

Now i place it in:
MS:/PSP/GAME/Bust A Groove/EBOOT.pbp + keys.bin
This should be correct right?
But i can't run both PSX Eboots that i've downloaded!

Toren,
That sounds like what I need is to do a clean install. I am having a similar issue where ISO's that I know of did work at one time are not working now. I am currently on 3.40 OE-A. I know they worked when i had 2.71.
Does anyone know how to flush that out?

flush out...? do you mean going back to 1.5 and then go back to 3.40 OE-A? then go to recovery and do the eboot to 1.5 thingy so you can go back to 1.5. When you're on 1.5 already, you can load the 3.40 OE-A or any other custom firmware again.

Thanks for the response Boggzy,
I considered reverting back to FW 1.50 but it seems to me this wouldn't resolve the problem. If we (dakrt & I) have somehow ended up with unused files on our flash, installing a new CFW (1.50, 2.71, whatever) isn't going to delete those files. Like if you install Vista right on top XP... you can install Win95 over Vista but that's not gonna get rid of the files from your original XP installation.
Hope that makes sense.

So i have 3.40oe-a and I'm getting a black screen after I try to run madden 2007. I have UMD thing off as well as the advanced config all off, so i'm really confused.
Anyone know whats going on (it turns black after the PSP screen, and the game intro shows when i go to game->memory card).

Howsit, guys I have a question about 3.40oe-a its great but here's the thing some games will play but others I have a problem with the recovery options saving. If I have a background pic can't play games and recovery goes to default. Can you supatroopers help me out....one.

Please help me.... my psp had some dust under the screen, and the right speaker came loose, so i opened it to sort it out. ive never had any probs before, ive opened it around 30 times. i finished and hooked EVERYTHING UP PERFECTLY! but their is a strip of silver stuff which i caught with the screwdriver and it ripped off clean. its underneath the screen, and since then the screen has just been completely BLACK, and their are no probs with the brightness button. PPPPLEASE HELLLP! Pretty please?

Looking for a little advice, and there seem to be some rather experienced folks in here. Here's my situation. I just got a PSP w/ firmware v2.81. I updated it to 3.03 (sony version), and I've finally obtained an unpatched copy of GTA LCS. I plan to downgrade to v1.5 now that I can. My question is:
What version of OE firmware is most likely to work for me without a lot of hassle? I don't have time to try out a bunch of firmwares, and tweek things to work for me right now. I just want an OE firmware version that will let me play PSP ISOs while maintaining the normal factory features that I already have with non-OE 3.03 (listen to MP3s, watch MP4s, WIFI connectivity, etc.). I don't necessarily need the "latest and greatest." I'm more interested in the version that is most stable, and doesn't lose any of the factory functions.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

custom firmwares have everything that official firmwares have but on 3.40oe you can play iso's(of course) with almost no hassle (certian games have problems) and on 3.40oe you have a 4th level brightness and it has everything 3.03 has and yes you can watch movies, listen to music and have wifi, the 3.40 has a hotspot thing which 3.03 doesnt so i say go with 3.40oe i had 3.03oe-c but i still like 3.40oe better

I know that this is probably the 100 millionth request as far as the 3.30 downgrader is concerned... but.. most of the posts regarding this are dated in April.. any news on a available downgrader?... I really want the Dark Alex OS for my console... :)

Okay, another question from the newbie.
I'm ready to go from firmware v1.5 to 3.4 OE. In the installation instructions (readme file), it says the following:
"- Copy oeupdmaker and oeupdmaker% to /PSP/GAME if you are in 1.50, or to /PSP/GAME150 if you are in any SE/OE version. Get the 1.50 and 3.40 Sony updaters (of any region, because all are currently the same), and copy them in the oeupdmaker directory with the names 150.PBP and 340.PBP."
My question is on the BOLDED part. Pardon my ignorance, but where exactly do I GET the 1.50 and 3.40 Sony Updaters, and what are they? I just want to make sure to do this right, because I don't want to Brick my new PSP.
