Hi, i'm new here, so i'm just wondering.
Can you go to 3.40 OE-A from 3.11 FW?Or do I have to wait for a downgrader or use the exploit for it.
Thanks in advance.

You need a downgrader. a downgrader is going to come out soon get yourself a copy of the game Lumines/Illuminati before sony patches so that it wont work.

Darn! Ratchet is my favorite PS2 game, and I'm hankering to play it on my PSP. Anybody else have info?
Okay, I traded out my UMD for a brand new UMD of "Size Matters." Still nothing. I get the intro screen, it starts loading, and then goes dark (not like off dark...screen is black, like it's loading, but nothing ever happens). Seems rather odd that the UMD wouldn't work with 3.40 OE. Any advice?

Have you tried this RedwingD?:
-Boot into Recovery Mode (hold down R turn on PSP).
-Under Configuration, makes sure the last 3 UMD options are disabled.
-Under Advanced Configuration, make all 3 options are disabled.
Exit & try the game now.
If you're still having problems try deleting any Ratchet game saves from your memory stick, perhaps you have a corrupt saved game file that the game is trying load and locking it up.
I assume other UMDs work?

Toren, thanks for the response. I think this may just work, but is there some other trick to entering recovery mode? I hold down R and turn on the PSP, and it just boots like normal. No recovery mode as far as I can see. Don't see any "Configure" option. My system is on 3.40-OEA
Yes, all my other UMDs play fine. All the other ISO/CSO files I've downloaded seem to work fine too, but for some reason I can't get Ratchet to work as a UMD or an ISO/CSO.
Any additional assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure why you'd have trouble entering recovery mode..
The PSP needs to be off, not just asleep... and you do need to keep holding down R for 2-3 seconds..

Is it simple? just put in the root it says and run it...The recovery menu is already in the firm ware that i downloaded is that correct? Man this is frustrating.. Should i just got to 1.5 and use devHOOK? I do not use homebrew or anything else just want to play my backed up games.

Thanks everyone for your help. I didn't realize you had to "hold down" the R button while starting up to enter recovery mode, so I was letting go of it as soon as the PSP started booting up. I had to hold it for about 5 seconds, but it did enter Recovery mode. I double checked the things that Toren suggested. I put the CPU speed to 333, and now it works like a charm. Thanks!
So is there any disadvantage to having the CPU speed running faster? Intuitively, it seems like you'd want it as fast as it can go, but I assume there is a reason why the default is set lower. Is it about battery life? Anyone?

battery life is shortened. thats all that happens because the psp was originally supposed to go 333 mhz, but sony pulled it back to 222 or 200 or watever with battery in mind.
(+[__]%) put this psp in ur siggy. just do it.

no, u need to disable NO-UMD in recovery, and put a UMD in the drive when running an iso. devhook is even more complicated, dont use it.

Why is it that when I "Restore Settings To Deafault", and when it starts back up it switches my x and o buttons? And everytime I go into recovery and exit it shows the blue screen with all the languages saying "press o system encountered an error?
