Don't be afraid of it shark79, it's really easy once you have a null modem cable & access to a PC with a 9 pin serial port.
Maplin have the cables (Part Number L71BT) or if you can wait they're on eBay I'm sure.

I upgraded the day DEbic was good enough to make 752 available to us & have never looked back.

I have not been down since & have not had to re enter codes either.

GO FOR IT shark79 ;-)

nice one - have the cable already.
heard there is one downside where you cannot access program info but if this means not having to input the codes anymore its well worth it. thanks again

the only answer to getting your replay up and running again appears to be to flash it with the 7.52 software. Manually entering the codes doesn't seem to be an option anymore. You'll find a link on the previous page to the 7.52 file and the stblink that you'll need. Other than that you'll need a null modem cable (maplins) and make sure you have a 9pin port on your computer. Its actually very easy to update once you follow the instructions and takes about 5 mins but its definitely worth it in the long run.

on the previous page there are 2 links to the software that you need, you need to click on the links and download the software. then you need to get a 9pin null modem cable and connect it to your replay lite and to your computer and follow the instructions to download the software from your computer to your box. When you have done this your box should then automatically update itself anytime the codes are changed.

you need to connect your null modem to the computer and to your replay lite, then you plug in the replay. Open up the stblink and select com port, when you see that its connected you click on upgrade software. the replay will flash green then red there are 515 blocks to be loaded but even after these have been done do not disconnect your replay until you see the red/green light flashing very quicly for a couple of minutes. When thats done disconnect everything and connect to your t.v. Leave your replay on a premium channel (i.e movies) for a few minutes and the channels should come in. Thats it. easy peasy.

I tried using a usb adaptor with the null modem cable and it didn't work, I had to resort to doing it the original way. Hope it works for you and that I just had a dodgey adaptor but just to let you know it wouldn't make a connection for me when I tried that way.

Hi All,
I've just downloaded the replay lite software and stb program. The stb program is showing up fine but the R/L software is showing up as a .bin file. Anyone know if this file I need a program or something else to recognize this file attachment or does the stb program do it automatically ? Also, like many others, I'm working from a laptop and was wondering if anyone has tried and successfully completed a softwre update on their R/L box using a USB to 9 pin adapted cable ? Thanks.

I just checked the Maplins.co.uk home page for a USB to Serial 9 Pin male Adapter cable and it says you need driver software to run it successfully. It's free to download from the overview page. Don't know if this helps or not as I've yet to try it out myself.Sorry if I'm stating the obvious.

It's Female on both ends & it MUST be a Null Modem Cable.
The standard 9 Pin Female to Female Serial cable will not do.

Here's what you need:
