when you connect to the com port is it saying unable to establish a connection. If it is then its the cables you're using. If you're using the usb converter then thats your problem. I couldn't establish a connection with that but when i got to a computer with the 9pin port and just used the null modem it worked straight away.

thanks brain, i got the stuff downloaded, im going to have to try someother way cause i got the nul modem cable but wont go to my lap top and then i ordered a usb converter but that aint working, so thankfully i have a shaved head cause id pull my hair out,

HI ericwjlee,
NOW THAT YOU HAVE THE NULL MODEM CABLE, YOU CAN CLONE YOUR BOX FROM SOMEONE IN YOUR AREA WHO HAS AN UPDATED BOX.
CLONING THE REPLAY LITE
Simply plug in the set up (UPDATED) box ? attach a null modem cable to the back. Take the new box, put it on top of the UPDATED box, plug in the null modem lead THEN FINALLY plug the power into the second unit. It will then start cloning from the master.
The led will blink red/green slowly. When the red/green light starts blinking very rapidly ?UNPLUG THE CLONED UNIT FIRST Be patient when waiting for the led to blink very quickly.
it takes a little time.

Guys if you use the serial converter on your laptop and it won't connect you might need to see what is using the port.
Go in to device manager and then select Comm Ports, select properties then advanced tab you can then change your device to use the right port.

anybody help please. cant access current key for some reason. if i turn box on and off a couple of times i get picture and chanels back for 15 seconds max. im using the latest codes but not having no joy. i have no cable to download software either. please help

anybody ever hear of this one with the r/l.the red light stays on and cannot be turned on with the r/c.i tried to clone it to my box but when the lights stop flashing the red light stays on again.i tried to download the upgrades from my computer buy once again there is no connection.i tried all of these procedures with my own box again and it responds the way it is supposed to.in the end it might be a internal problem with the box itself,any ideas?

Sounds like you may not have waited for the process to fully finish?
It does take a few seconds after it reports that it's done before it is actually finished.
Try reflashing & if that fails, try to get someone with a working box & clone it.

Connection error on he pc means you either have an incorrect cable (ordinary RS232 instead of null modem)or you have not chosen the correct com port on the stb link. It has a drop down box with com 1 and com 2. You should try both ports.
Cloning just means copying the software and settings directly from another box. It is not like the clone Starview box where the box itself is an clone "fake".

Are you sure you got a Null Modem cable? The straight serial cable & the Null Modem cable look identical, you can't tell the difference by looking at them, the difference is the wiring pinouts.
If you are sure that it is a Null Modem? then you should check that the port on your PC is active.

Is anyone else having trouble with ntl today. Stations are gone all day and it just keeps coming up no signal.

The service has been gone in parts of Finglas since early afternoon and has not come back yet. Just as well I kept the sky box for the free to air channels.

An RS232 serial cable is straight wired while a Null Modem cable is reverse wired.
