yes there is, all chips can be turned off.
and that may be the thing, going from backups to originals. all i have been playing is burned games and i havent been banned. if thats the case ill sell all originals and go buy more to copy. thats morally wrong but if MS is that stupid then we should take advantage of them.

Pfft, when I eventually do get banned, I'll wait for Halo3, finish the damn fight, and sell it off to concentrate on pc gaming. f@ck consoles.

i just finished 3 hours of GoW (backup copy) with my ms28 and no problems at all. not for now anyway.

Hmm the reports of MS28's being banned start pouring in.
I guess I was sorta right yesterday, that they couldn't ban everyone at once. It's being done in batches probably.

but its strange that they all happened to be hitachis and ms25s yesterday and most of today. im going to agree with ps2menace when he says that its because the other drives were spoofed off of the other drives firmware and it was a dead giveaway.

I think they can detect firmware changes... I wasn't banned last night when I changed back to original firmware. After I went back to my original firmware, I could sign into live without a problem.
Today, banned. I never even touched crackdown or the Halo 3 beta. Figured it was only a matter of time. I haven't even played a backup game since before the spring update. all i did was change my hacked firmware back to it's original using restore.bat to see if i was banned or not. I have a hitachi 59dj by the way. Should have just stayed off of live 'til someone figured a way around it. Now I gotta get a new console to get xbl back and I am guessing a banned consoles aren't worth shit now, if i try to sell it. oh well. i knew the risks before modding. Might go get me a ps3 now and use that for online gaming and keep the 360 for backups.... cool!
Also, I am guessing they banned because of all the cheating that has been going on lately. Same reason I believe they started banning on the original xbox. Man MS is untouchable! They really know how to deal with DRM!

you can access live with a memory card, but it doesnt matter. its not the hard drive thats banned. its the console.

i already posted a post that crackdown will get you and the beta day will be the doom day for modded consoles.but microsoft did a tricky thing by not only putting that flash detectable stuff only on crackdown but thhey also did a update for a couple of more games carbon oblivion graw2 and a few more.now they detect not by the consoles dvd drives firmware niether by the backed up disc but the combination of both when u were playing the backed up disc with ur moded console they are constantly gathering information and when they get the required information they drop the bomb thse like me with ms28 do whatever u want to do on live go download Halo3 its perfectly safe ive been playing like hell as soon it was released and stil going strong with a backup copy of crackdown cause when ms will get a solution for ms28 they will kick our arse out from live lol but for now go play live and enjoy it til they ban u
and by the way ms28 with 5.2b here still going strong on live................

This is going to produce a second problem. Hundreds of second hand xbox 360s on ebay, people buying banned consoles without realising!!!

beware people with sammys you most probably will get banned you should unhook your ethernet cable just incase.if i were you id stay well away from live.they might start messin up peoples consoles next and nobody wants that.i think the people who did get banned were all playin on live round about the time and after a reboot we were done for.this is'nt gunna stop its obvious they're gunna keep striking on people at any random time.just watch out cos you might be next!

just download them and follow the directions, its pretty straight forward.
xbox connect 5.1 and xlink work as a system link, it fools the 360 into thinking it has another 360 hooked to it, so there is no problem on a bammed conlole.
you may want to use both of them as xbconnect does not have as many 360 games but to me seems a little better for halo.

well boys i think i am the only one with a ms25 that is still not banned.
haven't played a backup and never player crackdown.
i think the reason is im usin the a version.
which only makes it so u can play backups.
but only a matter of time

if your sayng that 5.2a or 5.3a will only play backups your wrong.
the (a) is that the drive will read orig and copt disk at 12 speed.

For anyone not banned has your 360 ever been connected to the internet before you flashed? It seems so be a common trend for everyone not banned to never have been on Live before they 1st flashed.
