Just play as long as you can, that is my advice to any modded console owner. Your rime will come so enjoy what time you have by getting on as much as you can and playing your little heart out.

8. Do not re-flash once it's flashed. - no plans to, if it ain't broke..don't fix it
as of now still unbanned, but i know the bannings will come in waves and i really think that eventually everyone will have their time.

I'm glad to see you're doing things the right way and still not banned. I've put a lot of my time and mental resources into this. My wife's been neglected, but she's been very understanding with this whole thing.
I should add playing backups before their release dates will send up HUGE red flags. It's most likely the 1st thing that will get you noticed. I know this because I've heard from 2 different people who were real ball breakers with the MS phone reps and got them to spill the beans on that one. It's so easy to see who've been playing games before their release dates. Once you are noticed, you are going to be watched and if your stuff ain't in order you will be banned.

Hmm what should I do?
I heard about the bannings before I even turned it on so I'm pretty sure I'm not banned.
Should I flash back to orig? or what. I've been running on .42 b since I flashed it.

@ Memnock, i am glad to see someone who is going about this the right way. Tell your wife were all sorry and we appreciate her patients, LOL. There is just so much mis-information out there about this. I understand that it is pretty much all speculation at this point but some people are at least in the right ballpark, while others have no clue at all.

Problem with your theory is this. Most people are speculating that the changes you make are being stored in flash memory somewhere on the 360. So once you flashed it, whether you have connect to XBL or not, the fact that you modded it is still stored there. Your only hope is that it was not stored before the spring update, and can somehow not be recovered once you do this update. But i do not think so as i know many banned people who modded their system long before the spring update. My thoughts are that there is no real way around it, once you do something and the system stores it then when the update does it's checks they are going to find something.
Whether that gets you an immediate ban or not is not known, because some have been banned and other, for the moment, have not.
As i said 100 times before. You modded it and now have to live with that decision the same as the rest of us.

Yeah I have good wife. I'm just putting my mind to work to help nailing this stuff down. When I saw a friend of my wasn't banned I really went over his flashing and backups and of course I've being read TONS of stuff online over the past few days.

Sorry if this hasn't already been posted, i'm just trying to figure out if anyone has been banned with the Hitachi 78fk drive in the elite..I had my 78fk modded but i flashed back to the original.bin because i was in a state of fear with M-soft dropping the ban hammer on everyone.

ok, just called xbox customer support. the guy told me that we were banned because our consoles were tracked and were flagged. your serial is flagged and put into a list. the lists are broken up into sections. every day they do a bit more of the list. they do 2 to 3 sections a day and that everyone who has been online has been flagged. he wouldnt tell me how they detect it but he explained how they are banning them. its the serial and mac address that are being banned. he said that they record your serial number and match it with your consoles mac address and they add it to the list. once your on the list your banned. ill try to call back later and get more info on how they are figuring out we are modded.

i highly doubt its the power supply count thing! it seems really unrealistic. first i though maybe now i highly doubt that! they are probably fully scanning dvd drive firmwares with a program in the spring update. no matter what firmware there is in there unless its original they can read and ban it. if it seems modified they will ban it is as simple as that! its probably not hard for them since they made the console and knew the possibility of hacked firmware!

there is another good thread to read through. A member i know named Sadaius has some very good, solid theories on the many things that MS could be doing to flag your console. Like doing a test on your drive as a modded drive will have faster response times then an unmodded one. Or looking at the stealth sectors which would be in a different place on a back up in order for them to boot correctly.

i called back, they are running a test on my console right now, she put me on hold and said give me 10 minutes to check on it. i told her my console was banned (its not) and she is looking in to whats going on. hopefully i will have something to inform you guys on in a little bit.
EDIT- Ok After speaking to her about this issue, she came back and said that my console was banned for violating the terms of use and that she could not begin to speculate on what that meant. she said that if i could recover my gamertag to a different console it would work again and i said that there is no way i will ever buy another console if i have been banned for no reason. She says that my console wont work anymore and that i have to get a new one. i hang up turn on my xbox, it wont work. it shows the loading xbox 360 globe thing and then freezes up. it just sits there. not sure if they have a way to completely stop the console from working now or what. but im pissed. im going to call back later and ask why my console wont work. i recorded the full conversation on my phone and will try to upload it to my computer so you guys can all hear it and see if you can get something out of it that i didnt catch.

i rang too ,the day of my banning.the woman also saind she could not tell me the exact reason i have been banned other than violating the terms of use.luckily for me my 360 was unhooked from the ethernet cable at that time because i thought that something could happen like what happened to you.but also i have noticed when the ethernet cable was connected when i was banned i was on the dashboard with a backup inserted and the drive still seemed to be reading the disk but a lot slower and quieter,almost like a check to see if it was a backup.then i also noticed that my ethernet light on my router was flashing as if it was being used.

still not banned... HITACHI v78 modded w/ FW Toolbox 3.1b....
Really don't get it... for the last 3 days my NAT was OPEN....
Now it is showing STRICT w/ codes
W: 0000 - 000B
X: 0000 - F001
Y: 20A8 - 48E0
Z: 0000 - 0000
Not sure what the codes were before when it was open... Almost like they were scanning my system the last couple days... Now I am thinking the BANHAMMER is coming down in the next couple days... Hopefully not but we shall see...

Play the hell out of what ever the next release is to pop up before the street date and make sure it's not stealth. That should get the job done. You might as well go ahead to change your firmware and make you you use the unbanned 360 as the power source.

Heh, just wondering on banned consoles will you still be able to update games/dashboards?
Say Halo 3 has a severe problem and needs to download an update to work thatl mean by law theyl have to allow you to download the update otherwise there not selling you what you bought because it doesnt work!
Also if now internet is a big no no on a banned console hows M$ gonna remotely do anything to your 360? Unless theres a time-bomb embedded/installed in the spring update theres no more they can do!

im trying to get banned to get info out on what the causes of being banned are. i dont care about the console. i rarely play anyway i can deal without xbox live. memnock you think flashing up to x53 would send off a red flag to them?

if they banned you then they can unban you to update your console if its that important. and need we all not forget that people hacked bungie and unleashed a load of banned modders back into matchmaking once. so who is to say that we might not be released abck into live one day.

Maybe, plus there the SATA cable thing. I wasn't too careful with my 1st 360, because I kind of wanted it get banned whenever they started banning so I could be able to a part of the troubleshooting process. I've since flashed 2nd 360 and I'm trying to keep it unbanned, but it if does get banned that's just more info.

Hey Mike I think you have the same setup as me - so i think you should keep it the same and then find out how long it takes for us to get banned - i mean the lady said the "scanned" your box and said you are banned yet you are not.
Did you call her back and say "hey you told me my console is banned but its not - what gives"?
Although I would hate for you to uncover something to MS that they didn't know regarding the particular flash you have and why its not banned?
