Your logged in as live user so u shud be able to. Try installing without disabling services, and just disable the other things.

This might sound stupid but can you save the "otheros" files on a psp memory stick duo instead of a flash drive??? My memory stick has 1GB. Thanks

You can save it on any storage device, so a PSP w/ Memory Stick will work. Or easiar you can just put the memory stick from the PSP into the Pro Duo slot on your PS3, assuming you have the 60GB model.

Sorry if this is not allowed BUT this may help some people.
I have written a guide that is very detailed... eg. Press HOME button on controller, turn ps3 on etc.
Its step by step and is EXACTLY how I got mine to work.

OK EVERYONE. To clear up some confusion on getting the built in wi-fi compatible here is how its done. (The following info is not created by me)

I have custom compiled a 2.6.22 kernel that includes WiFi + UDF 2.5 support for use with Ubuntu, and created a .deb package for it. I have uploaded it to http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7EGHA1CU
There is an issue with using iwconfig in conjunction with this kernel, in that it doesn't appear to be showing the essid correctly, and reports a compilation version mismatch. I personally installed the wireless tools from the Gutsy install to get rid of the errors.
Bluetooth controllers *might* work in this. I haven't had a chance to try it. The controllers may or may not also work via usb. I really am not sure.
Usage Instructions:
1. Download the .deb to a known directory.
2. #>sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.22-rc2_2.6.22-rc2-10.00.Custom_powerpc.deb
3. #>cd /boot
#>ls -al
Look in your /boot/ directory. You should have a symlink to the new kernel named vmlinux and an initrd ramdisk named initrd.img . Your old kernel should be at vmlinux.old and initrd.img.old .
4. #>sudo nano /etc/kboot.conf
Now, you should have an entry that points to vmlinux, as that's where your old kernel used to exist. Copy the line, so you have two identical entries. Then, rename one of them linux_old . Edit this line, so that the image name is vmlinux.old and the initrd is initrd.img.old . The other entry, you need to update the root. (this is where it might get a little tricky) If your old root was /dev/sda1, you need to point it to /dev/ps3da1. This is because the hard disk is now referred to as ps3da, instead of sda. In the end, this is what my kboot.conf looks like:
message=/etc/kboot.msg
default=linux
timeout=10
linux_old='/boot/vmlinux.old initrd=/boot/initrd.img.old root=/dev/sda1 video=ps3fb:mode:5'
linux='/boot/vmlinux initrd=/boot/initrd.img root=/dev/ps3da1 video=ps3fb:mode:5'
I am using ps3fb mode 5, because I have a 1080p screen. You should adjust this to the mode you use. A guide on video modes is here: http://ps3wiki.qj.net/index.php/Gentoo_Howto#kboot.conf
I have tested this on MY PS3, but it may be different on YOUR PS3. If you are able to try this, please let me know how it works for you.

Really no other advantages or disadvantages its just something you want. I wanted it because I can use a different web browser other then the Sony one. And you can play SNES games on it. Its more and more like having a computer to install another OS on your PS3.

Its possible for XP but there are no guides for it. And it took along time to boot up and why would you want XP? Thats pretty well the standard on PC's now a days, of course Vista is becoming the new standard.
XP and Vista are just to hardware demanding for the PS3. And are designed for PC.
And you can't run 3D applications on other PS3 OS, so if you were thinking by getting XP or Vista you could play 3D computer games, Sony does not allow it yet. And you can install windows applications on Ubuntu as it is, so really Windows XP does not have the most capabilities.

Ubuntu is better IMO. It has all that.
It has Firefox, a media player, and you can play SNES roms.

I successfully installed Feisty Fox today, but am finding myself unable to change my screen resolution. It only allows one option of 576x384.I am using a 42" HDTV and cannot see much of any windows at this resolution rate. From what I have read, some have suggested using the command "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg"
I tried this and chose nv (nvidia) as the first option and when it got to the list of resolutions it showed 4 or 5 options selected, but after exiting I was still stuck at 576x384. I also read something about changing kboot.conf but I am a linux newbie and am clueless as to how to edit this and what to add. Thanks for any help.

The question is there on the link but the answer is basically an explanation coupled with the suggestion of simply getting a new tv/moniter. Is is the resolution problem fixable or is it something that cant be fixed on the current version of ubuntu?
PS: Gratz on the sticky MidnightJ, oh and on the 100th post aswell.
