I was just wondering as I haven't been able to find out any hard evidence whether we can play our backups or not..

What would be the purpose to backup your games if you cant play them.. right?

If anyone has any info, that would be greatly appreciated :)

I have about 10 games that I want to back up (I own these games) and if I can play them, then I'll back them up now... if not, then I wont go through the hassle of installing linux and backing each one up..

Thanks!

You don't need to install linux to back up your games, you can use SAK 1.0

my girlfriend still thinks i'm a nerd, but at least i have my ps3 now.

I'm not 100% on that one, i guess i never paid attention to that one because blue-ray movie dumps are so damn big, to me at least, its really not worth it.

All PS3 games are on Blu-ray Disc, yes they can be backed up but no they cant be played yet.

To backup the games do you just need a Blu-ray burner in your pc?
Also, can't we use the swap switch like how ps2 games are used?

I'll answere your question.

No, you do not need a blue-ray burner. You can use your playstation 3. Instead of installing linux you can use a little program call SAK 1.0 (swiss army knife) It will rip them to the harddrive.

I have not been tempted into cutting a hole in my ps3 and doing some soldering, lol. We need the guy who did it to come forward and tell us what can be done with it
