even WITH the proper dvd burner and burning apps, you would still need to have the proper SATA chipset correct?! and if you do not have that, that does cost money correct?

anyway, lets just let all of this go and move on. he wanted to know one simple thing and things got outta hand. he knows what he needs to know now and thats that. good luck buddy! i dont see what the big deal was. people get so worked up about this stuff! look at it this way, if a thread contains something that you arent comfortable with, then DONT COMMENT! he got his answer from people who were willing to help and thats all he wanted. he didnt need the other people complaining to him about what he was doing. if he wanted criticism, he could have gone to "am i right or wrong in doing this with my own free time and money.com site". like i said, good luck and i hope SOME of us were helpful :)

im with this guy all the way im annoyed of people comming and asking questions that are like the topic titles and they don't bother to search. sometimes they ask the title exactly of something stickied and you begin to wonder how stupid they really are!

no you don't need anything special!! all you need is:
-wxripper
-iso burning program(i will be using DVD Decrypter)
-ss merger 1.6
-dual layer dvd burner(with the top taken off so you can swap out the disks)
-blank DVD+R DL
-dvd movie(im using finding neverland) that is at least 7.5 gig

it can be any dual layer burner and a dual layer movie!! that is all other then software!!

Hey everybody look at this! a magical guide that will let any dual layer dvd drive be used to backup a 360 game without special firmware

http://www.clevermod.com/index.php?article=12

OH and what do we have here?? A guide with the exact same thing, and low-and-behold it was found on AfterDawn!! And it even includes how to rip a game with any dvd drive, patch the iso, and burn the file!! OH MY GOSH!! Who would have thought such guide existed?

@REAM

No one said that their was anything wrong with mentiong NewsGroups they are a invaluable asset, mikeismad and myself just pointed out te fact that wicked zx5 was implying piracy in this statement....

I respect you but I must point out that their is a difference between playing the role of a moderator and a member(like myself) posting a semi-sarcastic post stating another posters contradictions, inaccuracies, and showcasing their ability to not follow the forum rules.

well i guess you are talking about hot swapping the burned game with a dual layer movie which is already in the 360? as far as i know, even that wont work without reflashing the actual drive in the 360 so it can read the burned game. you NEED to reflash your xbox360 in order to play them. hence the need for the correct SATA chipset to connect the 360 drive to your PC for proper flashing. but hey, what do i know. ::shrugs::

anyway, seems to me like we are just...

and BTW, im sorry if it seemed as though i was implying or condoning any sort of piracy in my earlier post. piracy is illegal plain and simple. on that note, im sure nearly EVERYONE that has ever used the web has done some sort of piracy at one point. does that make it right? not at all. just pointing out the fact that it is simply that. its a fact of life. people will pirate whatever they can. ever downloaded a song illegally?! ugh oh! they are coming for you! err! wrong. if you dont like it, then follow my instructions from earlier and just dont comment in the thread that contains it. now wouldnt that avoid alot of this drama? ;)

oh and @wickedzx5,

First and foremost if the user doesn't have any SATA ports their are IDE-to-SATA converters widely available and only for a few dollars.

Also concerning this....

Shut up, you have know idea what your talking about the original few (mikeismad and myself) who were complaining were complaing about your post(s) not the original posters. And when you say "then DONT COMMENT" why don't you respect our right to voice our opinion? If I want to comment on YOUR post I will and I don't need no newbie telling me I shouldn't.

"he got his answer from people who were willing to help and thats all he wanted"... Willing to help, we are all willing to help. It's just that you insinuated piracy was involved and we didn't want talk of piracy in our forums. I for one was more than willing to help him/her, just not willing to put up with you. And again no one was complaining about what he was doing we were complaining about what YOU were doing!

well obviously he is aware of the implications of his question. he was looking for ANY way to download a game. myself and others just gave him a way to do it and you, and others, jumped down my throat about it. anyway...read the post i just left a few minutes ago APOLOGIZING for my previous statement. i didnt mean to suggest anything illegal. so calm down. rub one out. let it go. itll all be better in the morning ;)

and...also, you suggested an ide-to-sata convertor right? isnt that just as illegal as what i suggested? you are giving him information that will aide in his quest to play a downloaded (apparently illegal) game. are you not as much at fault as i was?!

First off he/she asked if there was any way to download a 360 game. And there is and members stated various ways, all being legal and within forum rules. "These others" you speak of jumped down your throat for hinting at piracy, a topic that is specifically not allowed in the forums. And oh yeah your "apology" it doesn't mean much to apologize if you criticize in it also. And again you say "i didnt mean to suggest anything illegal"!! Yes you did you hinted at it yourself when you said....
Quote:
obviously he doesnt want to um...spend THAT much money
.

And how in hell is a IDE-to-SATA converter illegal?!! It converts a IDE cable to a SATA cable, you know you use it legally for hooking SATA drives, both Hard-Drives and optical drives, up to a computer lacking SATA ports. Nothing remotely illegal. So no I am not helping him pirate a game. And no downloading a game in itself is not against the law, it is downloading a game that you don't own that is against the law. And again downloading a game you don't own is exactly what you hinted at in this post
Quote:
obviously he doesnt want to um...spend THAT much money
So go think about what your going to post before you post more useles redundant BS.

even downloading a game you do own is illegal in the US. its against copyright laws that say you cant freely distribute games to people.

lol well then i guess you have a problem. you took my statement for what you wanted to. if you thought i meant something illegal then so be it. does that mean that is what i meant? either way, it doesnt matter. according to you backing up and playing a game must be illegal right? how do you know that he doesnt own the game!? i suggested a way for him to obtain a copy of the game and you suggested a way for him to play that game if he did by some miracle, obtain it. and where did i say that hooking up a ide to sata converter would be illegal? i didnt. i was refering to the fact that you suggesting that, would be a means by which he would be able to play that so called illegally obtained game. am i right or wrong? i have an open mind and can admit when im wrong. but like i said, you are helping him to achieve his goal as much as i was.

EITHER WAY ITS ILLEGAL TO DOWNLOAD ANY GAME IN AMERICA. so just stop arguing about it. you were wrong for hinting piracy. thats all thats being said. if you werent wrong you wouldnt be so defensive about it trying to cover for yourself.

wow there are some real bad attitudes in this thread...

i get the feeling some members are just waiting with baited breath for new members to come on and ask a repeated question...

these members are only looking for guidance (that's why they are here)

and dont forget we all had to learn somewhere, granted some of us pick it up faster than others but come on play the game (no pun intended)

and mike is mad come on for gods sake how many members here buy the original? and be honest... and lets lose the bad attitude please !

@ wickedzx5

obviously you have to flash your xbox 360 dvd drive!! and you will need any sata connector for that unless you have a samsung ms28 which 90% of the time needs a via6421! still its cheap as hell like i think 12 bucks a newegg!

edit:
tell the mods to call the kill switch on this thread its just a fight!

if they read the rules, which they agreed to, then they would know that they are supposed to search before posting questions. and if you are here and pirate games, thats fine and dandy if you want to commit felonies. I am not a cop, but i respect the rules of the forums which state that talk of piracy isnt allowed. i stated that since piracy talk was involved that talk should cease on the subject. so with that said, next time please dont try to correct me when i have well over 1200 posts here and with those 1200 posts i have done nothing but help go by the rules.

You are a f**king moron. You say I took your statement the wrong way, well what other way is there to take a statement like this....
Quote:
obviously he doesnt want to um...spend THAT much money
!?!

And again don't post BS I fully believe in Fair Use rights an the owners right to copy content they own. Heck if I was against backing up games I wouldnt have CloneCD, Daemon Tools, a numerous other pieces of software that are generally associated with game copying, and if I was agaisnt copying I wouldn't have posted links to threads that tell how to do it with a dvd drive, and most importantly if I was against backing up games I wouldn't even be in this thread/forum.

This argument between the members is not about the original poster or about copying games. It is about you and your idiocy. You specifically hinted at piracy, anyone on these forums can tell you that that is agaist the rules and not allowed. Oh and where did you say that hooking up a ide to sata converter would be illegal? Well that would be right here....(you were addressing me in this post)...
Quote:
you suggested an ide-to-sata convertor right? isnt that just as illegal as what i suggested?
Using a IDE-to-SATA convertor is not illegal and although it can be used to hook a gameing system such as the XBox 360 up to a PC its main and first use way to allow pc users to use SATA devices on a motherboard that did not have SATA hookups. And if you don't understand that simple fact than truly you must be ...
Quote:

am i right or wrong?

Uhh WRONG

Quote:
i have an open mind and can admit when im wrong

lol thats a load of B.S.

Quote:

True I want him to achieve his goal I just dont want people like yourself mentioning/suggesting piracy.
