I HAVE JUST SPOKEN WITH THE NOOBZ IRC CHANNEL AND YES THEY HAVE FOUND THE USER-EXPLOIT. I CAN'T BELIEVE I BOUGHT A 1.5 MOTHERBOARD :( just wait a few days and they'll have a downgrader or HEN but you must have a copy of Lumines

lumines is a hell of a lot easier to find then an unpatched GTA though, so its not too bad yet.

where are you from?
Im going to call gamestop tomorrow to see if they have one or can get one in for me. If they cant, ill just get one from amazon, hopefully before they are all gone. :)

Sorry, I dont mean to be such a noob, but I have been watching through this thread and others forums including noobz and dax' Im pretty much new to this scene, I been away on another country without a psp or internet access >.< My questions are:
I have a 3.11 version, planning to get luminees for the exploit. All, im wondering is what would happend if I do purchase the game and run the exploit? Homebrew seems complicated, Im afraid of bricking and I would rather try to run downloaded psp games without the hassle of adding "roots" or changing folders or w/e. Would that exploit allow me to do play dl psp games? Or would I have to wait for a downgrader?
Oh, another thing... Would it be better to go up to the latest firmware update then use the exploit? Or does that even matter?
Again I appologize for my noobness, Thanks for any help.

1) NO! stay at 3.11 trust me.
2) You can't just download games and put them on your memory stick and play them, your system has to be HEN (homebrew enabled) for that.
3) There's a slight chance of bricking but go very very careful.
4) Once you buy the game, download these files

# Extract the contents of the 'MS_ROOT' folder from the ZIP file into the top-level of your memory stick. (HINT: If you wind up with an 'MS_ROOT' folder on the stick, you've done it wrong).
# Start the game, and as soon as it gets to the 'Press START' screen, press START. If you wait until the demo has started, the exploit may not work.
# The screen should go blank, and the exploit will start after a few moments. It doesn't do anything except look pretty at this stage - but feel free to enjoy the first homebrew on your v3.10 - v3.50 PSP

I figured it would lead to hombrew... thanks for the answer. All Im wondering now is how to work hombrew. Also, Would I keep having to use Luminees to do this repeatedly?
If so, I think I would just get a UP, or wait for a downgrade.
Any thoughts on what I should do? has this been done? TYVM

Once you downgrade, you can upgrade to a custom firmware which enables you to run homebrew without your Lumines umd.
Mod chips are more reliable, seeing as you can never brick your psp after you have it, but they are expensive and very hard to install. Generally, if you follow instructions and dont do anything too crazy, downgrading is reliable.
I found a used copy of Lumines at my local Gamestop, near mint condition (the disc surface is perfect, just a few case scratches) for $14. I wish they had more copies so i could sell them later for $40 :)

lool thats almost like the memory card busniess i was gunna do.. i was gunna buy 20 4gb memory cards and sell them for 50 each...the 20 eud only 250..that works out sooo great ^_^

YEY! I got a hold of the game Lumines from my local Gamestop for $14. I had to check several places before I found a copy. HOMEBREW, HERE I COME!

im mad i quoted myself..lol but ur greatest critic will always be yourself..at my gamestop they are still selling Lumines for 14.20..good deal..i luv being in NJ cause not alot of stores or peole know about modding..i feel sorry for them..

i dunt think this thread has a purpose anymore..CKhaleel is still working on an alternate downgrader for 3.10+ users...im kinda jus chillin bak waiting for college to start X_X..but ya i guess even if our downgrader isnt the most popular, atleast we proved there to be another way to downgrade..very unique it is

im taking the future into account. A month or two from now Lumines will be hard/expensive to get. I already have my copy :) A fake "upgrade" might be easy to modify for future official firmwares anyway.

So um... the 3.50 downgrader works on my 3.11 or do I upgrade to 3.50 first?
Once I use the downgrader and luminess, will it go to 1.5?
Im sooo lost, Im sorry.
If it goes to 1.5, everything will be the same as it was a 1.5 version right? where I can freely load up full psp games... or do I still have to use "homebrew"? (homebrew is proggy right?)
