with a premium service the download speed is your maximum connection speed. I personally get 1 megabyte/second, the only limit is your ISP's connection speed.

is there any free news server that I can use? I've downloaded the news client, but my ISP don't have news server.
Can anyone provide me a free news server? and how to login to download binary file?

Does the file system work the same way as torrents or is the end result a bunch of 15 Megabyte files?

In reality, it will be a bunch of 15mb files, but there are newsreaders now that will automatically repair and extract files, so the result is the same as if you downloaded from torrent (i.e. download hashes and join them together) except much faster.

OK NEWSGROUPS, yu need three things
newsbin pro, win rar and smart par

you sign up to a news server, i find usenetserver.com the best and the cost is £9 a month but how much is a wii game compared, and newzbin.com at 25p a week, you chose the nzb on newzbin.com and download it to your pc then fire up newsbin pro ..file ....load download list.... locate nzb ...open .......ctrl A ..... add to download list and leave to download....a 2mb connection will give you 230kbps....wii game 5hrs max...once d/l finishes locate download folder click on par file this will check integrity of download and repair any missing or damaged files and then click on rar.00 this will then unpack to iso burn and play
if you sign up to usenetserver enter 159219 in the referal this will give something back to me and not harm you
later guys

A lot of internet service providers provide newsgroup services for FREE instead of going to another place paying monthly and having a limit. I know that Roadrunner and Verizon definately have newsgroup services for free if they are your internet provider. I have roadrunner and just started using newsgroups. Newgroups are amazing. It was taking me 2 weeks to download one game and then i gave up to look for another alternative and found newsgroups and it took me 2 hours.

Basically, see if your internet provider have a free newsgroup service and get the server address use slyck to help you get started. Here is a list of News Server addresses according to internet provider http://www.usenettools.net/ISP.htm

You get .rar files from newsgroups and then use winrar to put it in .iso files

the ISP newsgroups always blow! I've used about everything out there and their retention rates suck and download speeds and max connections are almost always capped. I pay giganews 20 bucks a month for unlimited and its well worth it. I always download at my isp's max speed of 8Mps and it's unlimited. No waiting for torrent seeds or fast uploaders or none of that junk. Also, many ISP's monitor torrent downloads and limit your speeds there too.

I've been using newsgroups for years and torrents can't compare. The only thing they have on newsgroups is that their free. But I don't consider waiting as free. That's a cost you pay with your time.

Amen to Giganews :) Maxes out my 10Mb connection when downloading anything lets just say those 4.37GB ISOs take under 30mins and that is worth the price of admission right there!

Plus Newsbin has an additional search service so I contribute to that as well and dont need to worry about being subscribed to specific groups it will search the entire news server listing for what I want.

newsgroups for me are like a better version of renting. Although I don't use giganews (5$ more expensive for features I don't need), I still max out my 8mb line and can get a 5gb DVD/Game in under 2hrs.

- You don't have to drive to the store to get/return the game
- You can keep the game

Please be aware, when I like a game, I do go and buy the original version of it. What I have is kinda like a netflix service except faster, and you can get anything you want with no limits. That's my view of usenet aka newsgroups.

It's safe, but not user friendly. It's hard to use for a novice.

I use Cox's news server and usually don't get that fast speeds, even though they allow up to 1.5MB/s which I could easily get.

You guys need to research newsgroups a bit before asking dumb questions like this. You're too used to P2P garbage and don't understand how newgroups work. It's not the newsgroup site that has wii iso's, dvd-r's, etc. It's the groups. A site just hosts the servers. We all use the same groups but some servers retain better and have larger caches. Anyway, google newsgroups and downloading bin files using newgroups before you spend any money anywhere

Giganews is a good source to get any binary file. But, the problem is that Wii games are 4.7 GB and when you download the games, they come down as ascii and the size could be as much as 8 GB or more. Unless you have unlimited plan, it costs $0.50 US for each 1 GB. So, each game will cost you about $5. With torrent, it cost you nothing if you alredy have broadband connection.

giganews is superpremium service and even that is 20$/mth for unlimited. You can find a nice paid server for ~15$ or less if you find a promotion going on.

Guess i have been lucky. i have only downloaded 2 ISO`s so far and have used 8.9Gb, using only 6 hours online.. With the Cheap option i have, i can download 4 games a month at only 3 hours per game costing me £1.50p per ISO. Nice :o) Well worth the odd few quid.
