Hello. Am trying to back up the matrix, and during encoding after doing deep analysis i'm getting an error over and over at about 45% saying

Dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. The error is:
Programming error - exception occured
The reason is: unknown.

Would really appreciate the help, am noob to this and can't find anythink else in the forums.

Thanks!

Edit: is it because i am using the fat 32 file system and not ntfs?

Edit2: occurs exactly at 2,005 mb. drive has 20 odd gb free...

thanks again.

You are using the beta version, beta version are versions which are still in the testing phase. Maybe you should try going back to
www.dvdshrink.org and downloading the
dvd shrink 2.3 it's an older version but it might not have that problem.

Fat32 has a problem with more than 4Gb so I would suggest sorting out NTFS if I were you...

Plus Matrix has hidden easter eggs : )

Try using DVD Decrypter (it's free) for rip process instead of DVD Shrink straight off.

Have you tried DVD Shrink 2.3?
The 3 version has a "beta 5" thing after it, don't complain about errors!

That was helpful #afonic

DVD Shrink 2.3 has already been mentioned/suggested & yes we all know it's a beta version...everyone still has the right to moan n groan about it's shortcomings - it was released & not just in the hands of beta testers.
Please be helpful if you can ! ;-)

I use DVD2One myself as I used long before Shrink came about & it is still better... IMHO

Go to microsoft and search for Fat32 to NTFS conversion and it will tell you how to convert from the crappy FAT32 to NTFS. I dont think you can do this on Win98 and earlier though.

I would guess - there is a detailed description of how to do it on the Microsoft website, but it really is a patch work rather than a clean format. But...there is nothing you can do about it i suppose. Next time you buy a hard drive format it as NTFS for easiness :-D
