So if you insert a PS2 original, it says not a valid disc? And if you insert a backup, you get a DRE? That sounds like a laser problem. Try cleaning the laser with a q-tip using isopropyl alcohol.
if i insert a ps2 original it works fine, just when i used the burned disk it gets those messages. I know that the file works fine because i have a ps2 emulator and i tried it on there and it worked fine its just that my comp can't handle the frame rate. i burned it on powerISO at 2x and used it with the slide tool but it still says "please insert a ps2 format disc"
Okay. Since you said you get a DRE with DVD backups, I think your PS2 just doesn't like the DVD-R's you are using as the PS2 drives are known to be picky. What brand are they? Most people here prefer Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Also, since they are 16x, try burning at 8x. A good burn is usually half of the media speed.
Lastly, try burning the ISO with DVD Decrypter and verify the disc.
So, burn with DVD Decrypter at 8x using your DVD-Rs. If that still doesn't work, then it's most likely your brand of DVD-Rs.
yea it seems that the ps2 doesnt want to read the disc, i ran the burned dvd ps2 game on my computer with the ps2 emulator and it worked fine, so i know the files are working, its just that even with the slide tool it says please insert a ps2 format disc.
also is it required to have the swap disc to run this burned game or is the slide tool all i need? i use the slide tool and it loads up for a bit and then it pops up with the "please insert a ps2 format disc"
I got the game working, but sometimes it doesn't want to work.
Or it will work for only a certian amount of time.
I used a DVD+R and I burned it with Nero, is there any way to stop it from freezing on me?
DVD+R are only really good for PS2 lasers if your booktyping to DVD-ROM, if not then go with DVD-R, my PS2 wont even read +R's, also make sure its quality media like TY or Verbatim, burning at half the disc speed is a good start too, if you have the option try get 8x media rather than 16x.
If you follow them rules you should have no problem backing up your games.
