New price drop?

OK, well I was thinking of buying the ps3 like pretty soon because of the price drop, but many friends are telling me to wait for november-december thinking that Sony will have another temporary price drop or bundle for a week. I live in Canada, Quebec to be more exact, so I can't really profit from the 5 free blu-ray discs with the purchase of a PS3. So im hoping I can buy the console in Christmas time so i would be saving money (im talking bout the 60 gb console-or at least do you guys think they will be making price drop fro christmas early after releasing the 80 gb ps3?) Anywho I do not want to spend more than 550 Canadian currencie ( excluding taxes) but i dont know if i should get the 60gb at 550$ now or wait and maybe the 60 or 80 gb will be less expensive than 550$CAD in november-december.

When the 80gb comes out the 60gb is going to be taken off shelves isnt it?

well thats what im afraid of, if i wait to see if price goes down, and 60gb is taken off the shelves, ill be forced to get more expnsive one which im tryin to avoid. What i was thinking was there would probably be a transaction phase where both would be sold at same time for like a certain amnt of time until every 60gb is tuly sold out, am i right?

Maybe, all i know is I would want a 60gb anyways cause it will be rare.

What?It only has a 20Gb difference.If you want a rare PS3,then get a 20Gb PS3 online

ok, that would work too, but the 60 gb wont be out anymore soon, thus making it rare...Im not saying rare as in who ever owns it willbe considered royalty. Im saying that there wont be anymore out there so the one who do have it will be different from others.

i dont think so. i would say buy the 60gb now as it's a really good deal. you even get the emotion chip for backwards compatibility. and you can always upgrade the harddrive yourself. i don't think they could make an better offer by christmas.

Well, I don't really need the backwards compatibility considering i never owned a playstation, so i don't care about that, all i want to do is save money, but my dilemma is: I buy it now for 550(60gb) or i wait till christmas where the 80gb might go down to 550 or 500.

oh ok xXxBG i thought u were talking to me, nvm bout that, but yeh thx for your help, and ya thats y im all hesitating right now, i have to pay for it and 50$ does make a diffrence, so my question once again is, do you guys think there will be a price drop for the 80gb by christmas making it at a lower price than the 550$ 60gb ps3 right now?

It is a possibility that it will drop in price (80gb) but I doubt it would be lower than the 60gb price. Plus if you get a 60gb now you get 5 free BD movies AND a better backwards compatibility because of the Emotion Engine in the 60gb's.

i cant get the free movies, i live in quebec canada, and besides, i dont need the backaards compatibility cuz i never owned a playstattion, so i between the 80gb and the 60gb is only the price diffrence for me, and i want to get the cheapre one (60gb) but 80 gb might drop one week in november so i dont no what to do, should i risk it and wait? cuz if i wait and it not cheaper, den i am not getting the ps3. I really need it to be 550$ or less

omg guys thats not the issue here lol i had super nintendo, nintendo 64 nintendo gamecube nintendo wii now i, using the money i make from this job (my first job) am planning on buying a ps3 with my own money, so i would like to get one really badly, before it use to be my parents who would get me all the nintendos but im tired of the childish games so i want a playstation 3. Now, should i get one now or wait til christmas(wither way i wold have to wait till christmas cuz ma dad wouldnt let me open it before christmas even if i buy it now-im slitting half the cost wiht my dad) SO what should i do?

Hes right. Get one before they are gone. The money you will save now you can use to upgrade the hard drive to something more than 80 gig. Oh btw since this is going to be your first playstation experience I dont think you are going to be disappointed you made a good choice by switching to playstation.

yea just get it now. you may not think you will need the emotion engine, but you can buy ps2 games for cheap on ebay and elsewhere, and theres a chance that some of the rare games wont play on 80gig till they update the list more. ps2 has some of the best games of all time, you will want to go back and pick up some of those.

PS2 is one of the best consoles. They still manufacture it and at E3 2007 it was mentioned that 140 more games are coming out on it!
