ive got this psp that has 2.82 firmware is there anyway to downgrade it so i can play backups/isos or do i have to upgrade it first then downgrade or what.
ive been looking through guides everywhere but cos im not very computer literate.. (well Sort of am but..) im still findin it hard to come to terms with what to do?! lol
so if someone could give me a lil guide to as of what i have to do.. and thats even if i can do it
it will be very much appreciated

i rekon you should upgrade to 3.03 and then downgrade to 1.5 using gta liberty cities unpatched. then just upgrade to 3.40oe

i take it 3.03 is an official firmware is it?
if i dont have gta is there any other way of doing it?
if not and i have to get it how do you do it? or does it automatically downgrade for you?

If you dont have GTA you can update to 3.50 and downgrade using Lumines. If you want to get GTA you will probably need to get it off of the internet. You need to make sure it is the unpatched version though.

ok so you definately need one of those games to downgrade do ya? no other way possible?
how can u tell the difference if they're patched or not?

You put them in the ISO folder on your PSP after you downgrade and get to custom fw

Do i have to format my memory stick and if so.. do i do that first (before Up/Downgrading) or after ive done it?

Its always best to format it, before and after upgrading/downgrading.
It dont matter too much, but it decrease the chance of bricking but not too much

@Doyle2727-The unpatched GTA:LCS will have the 2.00 firmware update just below the UMD icon in the psp menu-Not sure about Lumines-As long as it doesnt have a 3.51 firmware update though, you are ok..I dont think the patched ones have hit the US yet-however, they have started patching in Japan...I know that Sony has recalled Lumines from most major retailers, as well as gamestop/eb games..So they are getting pretty tough to come by...Check your local pawnshops, mom and pop electronics stores, blockbuster (either rent, or check their "previously played" bins...or eBay (last resort)
On a related note...
I also have a PSP which I picked up recently that has 2.82fw along with having a TA-082 mobo-Which downgrader would you guys recommend for this? I was thinking 3.50-or is it relatively safe to just go up to official 3.03, then downgrade from there?...

so should i format it before i upgrade to 3.03.. then format again when its done? and same with when i downgrade it with gta and then format it again when i upgrade to custom FW 3.40oe?
(by the way would the GTA 1.50 be better then the 2.00 cos ive found some on ebay..?!)
living in the uk doesnt make much difference does it?!

You should do this...
Format then downgrade, then upgrade to custom firmware, then format.
Also about 1.50 GTA...i dont think they exist, when they first made GTA they are for firmware 2.00, maybe they mean the game version 1.50 as in make 1 and a half, which means patched?

The updates should be the same-its the packaging that's different from its american version counterpart...Which makes it harder to tell the difference..But you want the one with the 2.00 firmware update for sure.

then i create an iso folder.. and put the games in there.. and do i need anything to load em up? say like UMDloader? if so how and what?

Thats sounds right, except that u downgrade with unpatched GTA:LCS (the one with 2.00 update) to 1.50.
1.50 is where you need to go
a copy of GTA LCS that has 2.00 update is the one you need.
you can get downgraders at psp-hacks.com
and pspupdates.qj.net
also dont trust all sites since they could contain brickers instead of real files. Also you do not need UMDloader. Just pop in a UMD in the drive or enable NO UMD in recovery mode...ill explane when u have custom firmware.

Cheerz buddy.. i did already grab the 3.03 downgrader with the sony update 3.03 aswell. also picked up the 3.40OE too
Just grabbed the 1.50
So when ive bought GTA lcs update 2.00 and downgraded does the 1.50 have to be in memory stick before i downgrade?

the 3.03 downgrader you downloaded called "303dg.zip" has a file in there called Downgrader_HOWTO.txt it explanes it really well. Also the folder inside called SRC is useless to most people, its just the files he used to make the program and stuff the "source code".

Here is another good guide for assisting you with your downgrade-You want the second one down (2.81-3.03)click the "show" button and it will display the tutorial step by step...
